Why do deviants say that the Sahaaba differ in ‘aqeedah? So they can justify their hizbiyyah and their differing. They work night and day to try to find differing of the sahaaba, so they can justify their opposition to the Sunnah – i.e. sahaabah differed so we can differ

Footnotes:

1. Is Salafiyah A Group?

Shaykh Hasan as-Somali was one of the students of Imam Muqbil bin Hādī al-Wādiʿī of Yemen in the 1990s. Shaykh Hasan said “Salafiyah is not a group. Salafiyah doesn’t have any individual that formulated it is Quran, Sunnah with understanding of Salaf.

So anyone who is upon Quran, Sunnah with the understanding of the salaf as it relates to the Usool(principle), they are from upon the way of Salafiyah whether you know them or whether you don’t know them whether that say they are salafi or whether they don’t say they are salafi.

Salafiyah is the synonymous to the term sunni or Ahlul Hadith Ahlul-Athar AHleSunnati-wal-Jama’ah. They all mean exactly the same thing. The word AhleSunnati-wal-Jama’ah appears during the time of the companions to differentiate between the people of sunnah & the congregation from like of the Khawarij & other than them”. But Still, Isn't Salafiyah a Sect?

Yes, it is but they are the sect of Allah as Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan said "Hijbullah - Hijb(party) of Allah".

Questioner:

Your eminence Shaykh, May Allah make you successful.

We hear some people saying: It is not permissible to affiliate himself with the salaf(pious predecessors). And they consider Salafiyah to be one of today's sects; so what is your opinion about what they said?

The Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan replied:

Yes, the salaf is the sect of Allah.

The salaf is a sect but (it is) the Sect of Allah.

Allah the Almighty says: "Allâh is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allâh. Verily, it is the Party of Allâh that will be the successful".[Surah Al-Mujadila verse 22]

So the Salaf sided with the Book of Quran, Sunnah & Sahaba & thus became the sect of Allah. And those who oppose them are misguided deviant sects.

Sects Vary. There is the sect of Allah & there is the sect of Shaytan. As it's mentioned in the last ayah of surah Al-Mujadilah.There is the sect of Allah & there is the sect of Shaytan. Sects Very. So whoever adheres to the Quran & the Sunnah is with the party of Allah. And whoever is on the wrong path belongs to the path of Shaytan.

And you choose whether you would like to be among the sect of Allah, or that of sect of Shaytan. Choose,

Na'am(yes).

2. What Does ‘Hizbiyyah’ Mean and Who are the ‘Hizbis’? | Shaykh Rabee ibn Hadee Al Madkhali[1]

In short: Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī said:

Everyone who opposes the Salafī methodology is from among the partisan groups of misguidance, ḥizbīyyah has no conditions. Allāh named the previous nations ‘Aḥzāb’ (partisan groups) and named the Quraish when they came together [against the Messenger ﷺ] Aḥzāb. They had no organisation or anything of the sort.

Therefore, a ḥizb (a partisan group) is not necessarily organised. If the ḥizb is organised, then it has increased in corruption…

Full Speech:

Questioner:

What does ‘ḥizbīyyah’ (partisanship) mean? What is meant by saying: so-and-so has ḥizbīyyah? Who are the ‘hizbīyyūn’ and what is their daʿwah and methodology?

Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī:

Everyone who opposes the Salafī methodology is from among the partisan groups of misguidance, ḥizbīyyah has no conditions. Allāh named the previous nations ‘Aḥzāb’ (partisan groups) and named the Quraish when they came together [against the Messenger ﷺ] Aḥzāb. They had no organisation or anything of the sort.

Therefore, a ḥizb (a partisan group) is not necessarily organised. If the ḥizb is organised, then it has increased in corruption. Fanatically clinging to a specific ideology that opposes the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ, and basing loyalty to people and disassociation from them because of it, then this is taḥazzub (partisanship)! This is partisanship even if it is not organised. Adopting a deviant ideology and gathering people upon it, this is a ḥizb; whether organised or not.

As long as their togetherness is for the sake of a person who opposes the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah, then this is a ḥizb. The disbelievers that fought against the Messenger ﷺ did not have the organization that is present nowadays and Allāh still referred to them as Aḥzāb, how come?! Because they formed a partisan confederation to aid falsehood and wage war against the truth – and they disputed using falsehood to refute therewith the truth.

And the ‘Aḥzāb’ after them denied (their Messengers), and every (disbelieving) nation plotted against their Messenger to seize him, and dispute using falsehood to refute therewith the truth”. [Q40:5]

Allāh called them Aḥzāb – may Allah bless you – they formed an alliance consisting of the Quraish, Gatafān, Quraidtha, and various tribes; they were not organised. They became a confederation so Allāh called them ‘Aḥzāb’ and the sūrah is named ‘Sūrat al-Aḥzāb’; were they organised?!

So a hizb is not necessarily organised. If they believe in a false ideology and argue in favour of it and dispute [in defence of it] then this is a hizb. If in addition to that they are organised – may Allāh bless you – and they collect wealth etc. then of course, it is fully engaged in hizbīyyah and has become one of the hizbī groups of misguidance – Allāh’s refuge is sought.

SHAYKH AHMAD BN YAHYA AN-NAJMI DESTROYS THE CLAIM THAT EVERYDAY THE SALAFIS DROP A CALLER ( DA'EE)

Question: Some Ḥizbīs say that every day the Salafis drop a caller. What is the reply to this claim?

The reply of Shaykh Yaḥyā bin Aḥmad an-Najmī: They don't drop anyone except the one who drops himself by his choosing of innovation and following innovators. Naʿam.

Beware of Callers Who Falsely Claim to be Salafi – Shaykh Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Najmi

Questioner:

There is a a caller who claims to be salafī, however, he propagates Islam with the hizbīs (people of partisanship to a group or person) and does not warn against them, instead he warns his students against refutations and says about some of the salafī scholars: “he (salafī scholar) is upon the truth, but his procedure (of advising) is wrong”. This caller also mixes with the hizbīs often so what do you direct us to in that regard?

Allamah Shaykh Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá al-Najmī:

This individual is ignorant, this individual is conceited, this individual is miskīn (in need). This individual is not salafī rather he is serving the interests of the people of falsehood.

The reality of the matter is that refuting is (a form of) enjoining the good and forbidding evil; so it is said to him: ‘what do you say about the statement of Allāh ﷻ

You [believers] are the best of nations ever raised up for mankind [because] you enjoin the good (Qurʾān and Sunnah) and forbid the evil, and believe in Allāh”? (Q 3:110).

By virtue of what did they become the best of nations? Is it not due to this characteristic of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil and believing in Allāh ﷻ?! Enjoining the good and forbidding evil is based upon having belief in Allāh ﷻ.

So what does having belief in Allāh mean?! It means to have belief in His Book and knowing what is in it of truth and also knowing the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and what is in it of truth, and that you –by way of this truth, invalidate falsehood. This is the response; (and) that you respond to the people of falsehood by refuting their falsehood and clarify the truth regarding what they have erred in.

So can we say that enjoining the good and forbidding the evil is forbidden?! Can we say that the one enjoining the good and forbidding the evil is a corrupter and his procedure is not correct?! Can we say this? ….What is the answer? …. Tell me (addressing the audience)..….You are quiet!

Questioner:

They said: “No. We cannot say that”.

Shaykh Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá an-Najmī:

It is just that all of them should have said this (i.e. in agreement).

Ok. If we are going to say that the person who enjoins the good and forbids the evil is upon the truth and it is a must that he is supported and aided, then how can we say (at the same time) that refutations are not permissible or they are false or the likes of that?!! We say no! The one who says this, he is in fact the one that is a corrupter. Does the Word 'Salafi' Divide the People? | Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan

The Question was Asked to Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan that:

Some of the "callers" - may Allah guide them - claim that the word "Salafi" divides the people, so do not say " I am Salafi".

The Shaykh replied: "Yes, the term 'salafi' divides the people - it divides between the salafis & the people of innovation & misguidance. Alhamdullilah this is a merit, for a person to be practicing the methodology of the Salaf [Pious Predecessors].

Allah says " And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. And it was not for us to associate anything with Allah".[Quran 12:38]

Following the Salaf in the belief is a privillege & a compliment, so we are proud of that & we ask Allah to truly make us of those who are upon the methodology of the salaf & grant us firmness upon it.

Even if the people leave us, our main objective is not to merely gain followers, we call them to the methodology of the salaf & the correct belief. If they accept it, Alhamdullilah, but if they don't, they have to deal with the decisions they made for themselves". Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan on Saying 'I Am Salafi'

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzaan was asked in his lesson on Sharh Fath al-Majeed (23/04/1434H) (MP3):

فضيلة الشيخ وفقكم الله يقول : يقول بعض طلبة العلم إنه لا ينبغي لأحد أن يقول أنا سلفي لأن في هذا تزكية للنفس فهل ما يقوله صحيح ؟

Esteemed Shaykh, may Allah grant you success, he (the questioner) says: Some of the students of knowledge say it is not desirable for anyone to say 'I am Salafi' because this is commendation of oneself. Is it correct what he says?

To which he replied:

إذا كان يقول هذا من باب تزكية نفسه لا يجوز هذا نعم ، اما إذا كان يقوله من باب البيان لأنه بين أحزاب وجماعات مخالفة ويتبرأ منهم ، ويقول أنا سلفي أنا على منهج السلف من باب البراءة هذا طيب ، نعم

"If he says this from the angle of commending himself, it is not permissible. Yes, as for when he says it from the angle of clarifying, because he is amidst the various opposing parties and groups and (desires) to free himself from them, and says 'I am Salafi, I am upon the methodology of the Salaf' from the angle of freeing himself (from them), then this is good. Yes".

Saying I'm Salafi by Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan - Masjid DarruSunnah

Questioner:

What is the ruling on identifying as the follower of the salaf by saying: "I'm Salafi", intending by that to inform about oneself, not self praise.

The person says this due to a multitude of those who oppose the methodology of the salaf & the existence of numerous groups & sects?

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan replied: "if he says this out of self praise, then this is not permissible. But if he has a reason for saying this & identifies as a follower of the salaf by saying: "I'm Salafi" i.e a situation arises in which these methodologies or ideologies are mentioned & he then says: "No. I adhere to the methodology of the salaf" or "I'm salafi & I'm free from these things" then he has a valid reason & there is no problem in this.

As for saying it out of boastfulness & self praise without a reason, then this is not permissible. This country(Saudi Arabia) and All praise is due to Allah - wholly identifies with the methodology of the salaf. Even though there are those who oppose it or have changed for the worst, but this is rare. Consideration is given to the majority & the majority of the country is on the methodology of the salaf, & all praise is due to Allah."

Aqidah(Belief), Manhaj(Methodology) & Madhab(School of Fiqh) of Ali Hussain Dhuniya

I am Sunni Salafi Athari Ahlehadees AhleSunnati-wal-jamah Al-Firqa-an-Najiyah in the matters of Aqidah & Manhaj. As a layman muslim, I ascribe myself to the Hanbali School of Fiqh by Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal Sahibani(رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ) Rahimullah but I am not fanatics towards madhab of Ahmad ibn Hanbal.

According to Imam Muhammad Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymin, In general, Madhab of Imam Ahmad is the closest Madhab of Sunnah & Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan said: "You should not say 'There is no truth except in the Hanbali Madhab' this is impermissible. As for saying that the four madhabs are all Madhab of AhleSunnah Wal-Jamah and goodness then there is no harm in this". The point is don't be fanatics towards specific AhleSunnah Wal-Jamah Madhabs.

The Distinction Between a Sunnī And a Salafī | Shaykh Sālih As'Suhaymee

Shaykh Sālih As'Suhaymee said: 'As for the saying: 'I am Sunni & I am not a Salafi.' Then this statement is contradictory! The Sunni O you Miskeen(impoverished person), is the Salafi, & the Salafi is the Sunni.

Whoever distinguishes between the two then he has distinguished between two things that resemble each other;

So the Salaf are the Ahles'Sunnah. And Salafiyoon are the followers of the sunnah, And whoever absolves himself from that then he's not a Sunni nor Salafi.

Ahlus'Sunnah, the Salaf, the followers of the Salaf, the Firqat an-Najjeeyah,the Taifat-ul-Mansoorah, the Jama'ah, the Salafi & the Sunni. All of these mean one title: And they are the Jama'ah, & they are similar to those whom were upon what the Prophet Muhammad (صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) & his Companions were upon.

And Shaykh believes that whoever brags with this type of talk (I am Sunni & I am not Salafi) is very far from the Manhaj of the Salaf. So stay away from him, & don't accept from him unless he repents to Allah from speech'. Source: I can’t recall the source at this time

Why I Say "I Am Sunni Salafi"

Saying "I follow the Qur'an and Sunnah but I don't call myself Salafi" is like saying "I follow the Qur'an and Sunnah, but I don’t call myself Muslim"—because a Muslim by definition is one who submits to Allah by following the Qur'an and Sunnah according to the understanding of the righteous early generations (Salaf as-Salih), whom the Prophet ﷺ described as the best of generations.

The term Salafi is not a new sect or a party. It is an ascription to the Salaf—the first three generations of Muslims: the Sahabah (Companions), the Tabi'een (their students), and the Atba' al-Tabi'een (those who followed them)—whom the Prophet ﷺ said are the best of all generations (Sahih al-Bukhari 6695, 6429, 3651 Sahih Muslim 2533a). So saying "I am Salafi" simply means:

“I follow the Qur’an and Sunnah according to the understanding of the Salaf.”

Just as a person from India says "I am Indian or I am from India"—not "I am India" itself so salafi is the ascription of the salaf—we use proper ascription to identify our orientation. Likewise, Salafi is a correct and meaningful term used for clarity, especially when there is confusion caused by the many deviated sects.

In the time of the Sahabah, when sects like the Khawarij, Shia, Qadariyyah emerged, the Companions identified themselves with labels such as Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah to distinguish themselves from those of innovation and misguidance. Ascription itself is not the problem; what matters is what the label signifies and whether one adheres to its true meaning. Also what is behind the labels.

For example when we go to extreme sufis like barelvi-sufis, Naqshbandis, they claim to be sunni but what is behind this, it is clear cut major shirk with Allah so does the ascription to sunni benefits them, absolutely not.

That is why Salafi Publications and those who cooperate with Abu Khadeejah, Abu Iyaad, and other callers from SPUBS (Salafi Publications) advise not to be deceived when some unknown person—whether online or offline—claims to be a caller to the Sunnah and Salafiyyah. They may use the terms "Sunni" and "Salafi" because the likes of the Surūrīs, Ikhwānīs, Khawārij, Sufis, and people of desires know that saying “I follow the Qur’an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf” appeals to the average Muslim. However, their true intent behind is to promote deviant ʿAqīdah (belief) and a corrupt Manhaj (methodology) in understanding Islam.

Our starting point is the Shahadah: Lā ilāha illā Allāh, Muhammadur Rasūlullāh

The Meaning and Importance of the Shahādah (The Kalimah)

The statement "Lā ilāha illAllāh, Muḥammadur Rasūlullāh" is the foundation of Islam. It is called the Shahādah (testimony of faith) and is the entry point into Islam. Everything in Islam is built upon it.

1. Lā ilāha illAllāh

This means:

“There is no one worthy of worship in truth except Allah.”

  • Lā ilāha (There is no one worthy of worship in truth): This part negates all false gods, idols, saints, graves, or anything else people may worship.Among the sects that ascribe themselves to Islam, they do not openly use the word “worship.” They do not say, “We worship the graves of righteous Muslims (the awliyāʾ of Allāh),” yet their actions, beliefs in the heart, and statements on the tongue related to major shirk prove that it is indeed worship.

For example, when the extreme Sufis such as the Barelwis, Naqshbandis,  and extreme Shia such as Rāfiḍah (Shīʿah), and those who follow them — seek help and assistance from the Prophet Muḥammad (peace be upon him), ʿĪsā (Jesus, peace be upon him), ʿAlī (may Allāh be pleased with him), Shaykh ʿAbdul Qādir al-Jīlānī (may Allāh have mercy on him), Muʿīn al-Dīn Chishtī (also known as Khwāja Ghareeb Nawāz), or from other martyrs (shuhadāʾ), Companions, and the awliyāʾ (friends of Allāh) — whether at their graves or from any place on Earth, and in any language they choose — this is clear-cut major shirk with Allāh. It is an act of idol worship. The Shahādah will not benefit them in this life or in the Hereafter, and if they die while persisting in such major shirk, they will remain in the Hellfire forever, enduring never-ending punishment.

Imam Shafi'i from the Aimma Arbah(four Imams) said: “That a person meets Allaah with every sin except Shirk is better than meeting Him upon any one of the innovated beliefs”. - Reported by al-Bayhaqee in al-I'tiqaad (p.158), posted by salafi recording in youtube community tab.

  • illAllāh (except Allah): This affirms that only Allah has the right to be worshipped, loved, obeyed absolutely, and called upon. This is Tawheed (pure monotheism): worshipping Allah alone in truth without associating partners (shirk) with Him.

🔹 This was the core message of all Prophets, from Nūḥ (Noah) to final prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

2. Muḥammadur Rasūlullāh

“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

  • This means believing that Muhammad ﷺ was sent by Allah with the final revelation—the Qur’an—and that he must be obeyed in everything he commanded, believed, and taught.
  • Following the Prophet ﷺ is part of completing Tawheed and is necessary for accepting Lā ilāha illAllāh.

All the Prophets Preached the Same Core Message[2]

Every Prophet called their people to Tawheed, using the phrase Lā ilāha illAllāh in meaning, even if the second part (the Messenger's name) changed:

  • In the time of Mūsā (Moses): Lā ilāha illAllāh, Mūsā Rasūlullāh
  • In the time of ‘Īsā (Jesus): Lā ilāha illAllāh, ‘Īsā Rasūlullāh
  • And in our final  time: Lā ilāha illAllāh, Muḥammadur Rasūlullāh

The first part of the Shahādah (Lā ilāha illAllāh) remains unchanged across all times and nations. The second part identifies the Messenger of that era.

Shahādah: The Highest Branch of Īmān (in arabic it’s called Aqidah & in english called faith)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Īmān (faith) has over seventy—or over sixty—branches. The most excellent of which is the statement: Lā ilāha illAllāh…”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 35, Sahih al-Bukhari 9)

  • This shows that Shahādah is the foundation and highest level of faith.
  • After it come other acts of worship: prayer, fasting, zakah, good character, modesty, etc.—but all of Islam is built upon this foundation which is Lā ilāha illā Allāh, Muhammadur Rasūlullāh. .

In Summary:

  • Shahādah = Islam's foundation
  • Lā ilāha illAllāh: No one deserves worship in truth except Allah (Tawheed)
  • Muḥammadur Rasūlullāh: The Prophet must be followed and obeyed
  • All Prophets taught this same message
  • It is the highest branch of īmān (faith)

Important Note:

[CN]:These days, it's easy to access the basics of Islam online, like the Five Pillars, six pillars of Iman, and Ihsaan — but sadly, a lot of Jahal(ignorance) is there. Ustadh Shamsi said: “You believe in six pillars of Iman, but how do you believe in it? Is it according to Sufiyaah, Khawarij, Shia, Ashariyah, Maturudiyah or Salaf as-Saliheen(the best three generations of the Ummah, praised by the last Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) ?”[3]

Many people today who ascribe Islam outwardly, neglect learning the foundational, beneficial, and obligatory knowledge—especially the correct understanding of the Shahādatayn: Lā ilāha illā Allāh, Muḥammadur Rasūlullāh. Instead of focusing on this essential knowledge, they hastily confront scholars and callers with endless questions—“What is the ruling on this or that?”, “What do you think about such-and-such individual, group, or organization?”—often without genuine intent to seek truth. If the answer aligns with their desires, they praise it; but if it opposes their desires, they reject it and even speak ill of the scholars or duʿāt(caller).

This behavior reflects a lack of sincerity and seriousness toward Islam. The Shahādah(Kalimah-best word) is not just a phrase—it is a belief that must be firmly established in the heart without doubts, spoken truthfully by the tongue, and acted upon through the limbs in accordance with the Sunnah of the final Messenger, Muḥammad ﷺ. It involves both negation (rejecting anything that is worshipped besides Allah) and affirmation (worshipping Allah alone without any partner). If any of the three—belief, speech, or action regarding Shahadah—is missing, a person is not  Muslim.

Therefore, a Muslim must begin with learning, repeating, revising, and living by the Shahādah until death. This is the most important knowledge and the foundation of salvation. All other questions and rulings come after that. Prioritizing issues of fiqh ul ashgar(like Salah, zakat, sawum, hajj) over core beliefs like shirk, kufr, bidah(fiqh ul Akbar) shows a misplaced focus and a dangerous misunderstanding of the religion.[CN]

End of Important Note

Anyone who understands and follows Tawheed, rejects Shirk, and holds to the correct ‘Aqeedah and Manhaj is upon the saved sect—even if they don’t use the word “Salafi.”
However, using the label “Sunni,” “Salafi,” “Ahl al-Hadeeth,” or “Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama‘ah” is not only valid, but at times necessary to distinguish the truth from falsehood.

That said, we do not exaggerate—there’s no need to wear t-shirts or show off the label of sunni or salafi in T-shirts. We use it wisely and sincerely when clarity is needed, not as a badge of pride, but as a means to indicate our commitment to the way of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions.

As for who represents this path, it is not based on personalities or slogans, but scholars who have preserved the creed and manhaj of the Salaf, including both past and present:

Past Scholars:
Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Imam Abu Hanifa an-Numan, Imam Shafai, Imam Malik, Imam al-Barbahari, Imam Ibn Taymiyyah, Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, Imam Sufyan al-Thawri, Imam Ibn Kathir, Imam Muhammad ibn Sirin, Imam Hasan al-Basri, Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak, Imam At-Tahaweeh and many others, may Allah have mercy upon them all.

Contemporary Scholars:
Allamah Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan, Allamah Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbad, Allamah Imam Ibn Baz, Allamah Imam al-Albani, Allamah Imam Muqbil, Shaykh Muhammad Aman al-Jami, Shaykh Hammad al-Ansari, Shaykh Ahmad al-Najmi, Shaykh Rabee’ al-Madkhali, Shaykh Saalih al-Luhaydan, Shaykh Taqi al-Din al-Hilali, Shaykh Muhsin Khan, Shaykh Saifullah Mubarakpuri, Shaykh al-Shanqeeti, and others may Allah have mercy upon them all.

These scholars represent the methodology of the Salaf in creed(Iman or Aqeedah), worship, da'wah, and character. We align ourselves with their guidance not because of personalities, but because they uphold the truth.

So to say "I am Salafi" means:
“I strive to follow the Qur’an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the righteous Salaf—the Sahabah and those who followed them—just as the Prophet ﷺ praised and instructed us to do.”

There is no difference of opinion in Islam regarding Iman (faith) Aqeedah (belief) of Islam. Iman,Tawheee and Aqeedah are the same and are used interchangeably in Islam as mention by Allamah Shaykh Fawzan and Allamah Shaykh Aman al-jami.

If you are wondering about matters such as whether the Prophet (ﷺ) saw Allah with his naked eyes or not during Miraj (Al-Isra wal-Miraj), or whether the first creation was the Pen or the Arsh, then you have not studied Iman  Aqeedah properly. Major scholars discuss these issues in their lessons.

Aqidah(belief) is the Foundation of Islam[Aqidah is the Most Important Thing | Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan]

Questioner:
This is a question from one of the scholarship students, he is asking about those who say the affair of ʿAqīdah (creed and belief) has become subsidiary and we must put it aside in order that we may unite against the external enemy.

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān:
This statement is false and Allāh’s ﷻ refuge is sought. ʿAqīdah is the foundation! ʿAqīdah is the foundation and basis of this religion – the correct and sound ʿaqīdah is the basis of this religion.
Anyone who neglects ʿaqīdah is neglecting the foundation of the religion. It is the foundation of this religion – the testimony that none has the right to be worshiped in truth except Allāh ﷻ and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh is the first thing that enters a person into Islām, however it is not sufficient to simply pronounce the testimony of faith, rather he must know its meaning and act upon what is necessitated by it inwardly and outwardly.

Did The Sahaabah(Companion) Ever Differ In Matters Of Aqeedah(Belief)?[ Did The Sahaabah Ever Differ In Matters Of Aqeedah? | Shaykh Salih Al Luhaydan ]

Questioner:
May Allah Bless You, honorable Shaykh. There are those who come forth & claim that sahabah differed in matters of Aqeedah. What is the ruling on this? Please give us a fatwa, May you be rewarded.

Shaykh Salih Al Luhaydan said:Astagfirullah! No one says this except a misguided innovator ! He says that sahabah differed. The Sahabah were The People of Aqeedah.

If there was any disagreement between them, then it was merely in some of the affairs ijtihaad(individual educated judgment) related to deeds.
As for the affairs of Aqeedah - the Allah is One, & that He is All-Hearing & All-Seeing, & that He does whatever He wills, that He is the Supreme creator, that He is the creator of everything & that He is aware of everything.

No! They didn't differ! And no one brings of this affair, except a caller to fitnah. Either he disguises himself with his claim that he is from the people of goodness.

He may have known some good & started to speak with the good he knows, to mislead the people & drag them into the falsehood that he is inclined to & is eager in spreading.
Or if he is from those who are deceived, let him seek Allah's forgiveness & repent to him & let him return to the people of knowledge & ask them.

And if he is from those who liked to the conceal their agendas & cover their objectives, let him be exposed so the people can be protected from his evil."

End Of Speech

Allamah Imam Shaykhul Islam ibn Taymiyah Al-Damashqee Al-Hanbali rahimahullah said “...The affair of the branches (of the religion which is fiqh ul ashgar) is an easy one, when a Muslim follows one of the blind- following scholars (of one of the madhhabs), it is permissible for him to act upon his saying so long as he has not become certain of the error of his saying…”[4]

Salafi in Aqeedah & Ikhwani in Manhaj? Shaykh al-Albani & Shaykh Al-Jaamee

Shaykh al-Albani and Shaykh Al-Jaamee refute the notion that a Salafi can be Salafi in Aqeedah and Ikhwani in Manhaj. Salafiyyah has one Aqeedah and one Manhaj. Ikhwanul-mulsimoon are a deviant sect, whether it be in aqeedah or manhaj.[Watch here=>>>Salafi in Aqeedah & Ikhwani in Manhaj? Shaykh al-Albani & Shaykh Al-Jaamee]

Be Aware of those individuals or parties who pretend to be from Salafi.

Salafi Dawah Attracts People(Awam) by Quoting the Quran, Hadith, Sahaba.

So at first, they attract people & when the Muslims are in, they teach their agenda.

For Example: The Question was asked to Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan that:[ Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan Exposes The Haddaadiyyah]

Questioner: "I study with some of the students of knowledge and they say, "We are upon the manhaj of the Scholars of the da`wah, but we do not take from the Scholars, and they slander Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, and adh-Dhahabee, and they warn from al-Aqeedat ut-Tahaawiyyah, and from studying and explaining it, and they judge at-Tahaawee with tabdee`. So what is your view about them, and is what they say true and correct such that we can take it?"

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan said:
"They say [that they are] (from Ahl us-Sunnah), yet they revile the Scholars? Where, Where Ahl us-Sunnah? They are liars; they are not from Ahl us-Sunnah!

But they say "from Ahl u-Sunnah" from the angle of lying and concealment. Otherwise, they show enmity to Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, and they show enmity to the explainer of at-Tahaawiyyah, and they show enmity to the Scholars, so they are not from Ahl us-Sunnah, but they say "from Ahl us-Sunnah" from the angle of deception. So beware of them and remain distant from them!"
End Of Speech

The Muslim Brotherhood (Al-Ikhwān Al-Muslimūn or Jamiat Muslimoon/Jamaat-e-Islami refer in India), founded in Egypt circa 1928 CE by Hasan Al-Banna (died 1949 CE), & founder of Jamiat Muslimoon in India is Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi was driven by political agenda. established for themselves a principle that was intended to unite the Muslims through mutual cooperation, agreement and overlooking differences for the sake of reaching a “greater goal”, which was political power for the Ikhwān (Brotherhood) in Egypt and then the rest of the Middle-East, North Africa and elsewhere. By enacting this principle, the Muslim masses would be united under one banner and then mobilized to act against oppression and injustice. This principle of Al-Ikhwān Al-Muslimūn established by their founder, Hasan Al-Banna reads as:

نتعاون‭ ‬فيما‭ ‬اتفقنا‭ ‬عليه،‭ ‬ويعذر‭ ‬بعضنا‭ ‬بعضا‭ ‬فيما‭ ‬اختلفنا‭ ‬فيه

“We cooperate with one another in that which we agree upon — and we excuse [and overlook] one another in that which we differ.”

This principle has been adopted by a large body of proselytizers (du’āt) among the Muslims who call to unity through ignoring differences and focusing on the “end goal” as they see it.Read here in detail:An Exposition Of The Ikhwāni Principle Of Excusing Differences For The Sake Of Unity: “We excuse one another in that which we differ.” by Shaykh AbuKhadija[article]

Always remember Shaykh Al-ʿAllāmah Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná[This shaykh is salafi scholar and there is another deviant Ikhwani Hasan Al Banna Read=> Salafi Hasan Al Banna & Ikhwani Hasan Al Banna from salafi publication]

Mores sources:

Why do deviants say that the Sahaaba differ in ‘aqeedah? So they can justify their hizbiyyah and their differing. They work night and day to try to find differing of the sahaaba, so they can justify their opposition to the Sunnah – i.e. sahaabah differed so we can differ

This topic itself require, separate guide.

Therefore,

There is no difference (ikhtilāf) between Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah over the fact that Allah (the Most High) will be seen by the believers on Yawmul-Qiyāmah (the Day of Resurrection). This is from the foundations of our belief. However, there is some differing as to whether the Prophet (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) saw Allah (the Most High) while he was in this world, and whether he saw Him with his eyes or with a vision in his heart. This discussion is a branch of the actual foundation.

Whoever says that the Sahābah differed in the Usool, then such a person has invented a lie against them (radiyallāhu ‘anhum). Sheikh Al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) mentioned in Minhāj us-Sunnah that the Sahābah (radiAllahu ‘anhum) never differed in the Usool and the Qawā’id of the Religion, rather their differing was in some branches of the Usool.

May Allah (the Most High) protect us from the misguidance of the people of innovation and desires.

They are where analogy can enter, and they are the rulings of what is lawful and what is forbidden. As for the matters of `aqeedah, then there is no analogy in them. Rather it is just tasleem, submission, and inqiyaad, compliance, to that which came from Allaah and his Messenger without any interference.

The Importance of ‘Aqeedah (Creed), by Shaykh Ibn Baaz

Posted on September 7, 2024 by admin

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful…

The great scholar, Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allah have Mercy on him), was asked the following question:

QUESTION: Teachers focus so much on matters of ‘aqeedah (creed) in their call. It is well known that it is of great importance, and it has a great status, since establishing a foundation of creed is the great focus of Islam, however we hope you could re-direct our focus on social manners and repelling lowly manners when building the creed. And why is it that most often scholars neglect this so much?

ANSWER: In each case, it is well known about the scholars that they focus on this and that. ‘Aqeedah -as you have mentioned, O questioner- is the central focus. It is the foundation. Yet with this, most of the people of knowledge in the various lands do not focus on ‘aqeedah, despite what you have said. They speak about manners and other things, about prayer, zakaat, prayer timings, and other things. ‘Aqeedah is neglected, so much so that graves are being worshipped in their midst, things beside Allah! Shirk (polytheism) has even taken place among them, yet they do not even sense it!

The scholar himself may even fall into associating partners with Allah, as he lived upon shirk with his father, with his uncle, and with his teacher. They lived their lives committing shirk due to some reasons: They did not speak about ‘aqeedah. They did not have any focus on ‘aqeedah.

You find him teaching, yet worshipping other than Allah. You find him in the masjid teaching, but then he supplicates to al-Badawee, or he supplicates to al-Husayn, or ‘Abdul-Qaadir, because he has lived his life like this, he and his father, and his grandfather, and his peers. This is from the results of neglecting ‘aqeedah and not focusing on ‘aqeedah.

You find him to be an insightful expert on the rulings of divorce, endowments, rental (or work) contracts, zakaat, bequeathals, and other things, because he studied them and focused on them. As for ‘aqeedah, then he does not focus on it, nor does he know it.
Even when he is good [not committing shirk], he still focuses on the
‘aqeedah of the people of rhetoric, along with what such people delve into of rhetoric, and the beliefs which are taught by the people of rhetoric among the Ash’ariyyah, Jahmiyyah, and Mu’tazilah [cults]. He is heedless about the Salafee ‘aqeedah, held by the companions of the Messenger (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace), what was held by our righteous predecessors of affirming the Names and Attributes [of Allah], issues of belief in Allah, the towheed of worship, and not associating partners with Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and focusing on these matters.

Thus, it is extremely important as an emphasized duty that one must focus on ‘aqeedah. Let the scholars focus on it when they clarify matters to both the common people and the elite. Let the lessons be primarily focused on it, while they still give focus to manners and other rulings. Neither this nor that should be neglected, yet let the greater focus be on ‘aqeedah.

Shaykh Muhammad [ibn Ibraaheem] (may Allah have Mercy on him) used to say in his writings to some his opponents who would write to him, debating issues of ‘aqeedah: “I want you to study ‘aqeedah like how you study the Chapter of Endowments.” Meaning: As you study and give great focus to issues of endowments between the people, I hope you would study ‘aqeedah, the chapter about rulings on the apostate, with the same attention you give to the chapter on endowments.

If they were to study the chapter on rulings on apostates in the books of Fiqh written by the scholars of each math-hab, if they would only study the chapter about apostates and focus on it, the falsehood and polytheism they have fallen into would become clear to them. Yet, they are heedless about that chapter, as they do not encounter any questions about it, nor is there any focus on it. Instead, you find them busy with issues of endowments and their caretakers: How should the endowment be executed? How should extra profit from an endowment be dealt with? How about rent, how should it be rented? How should people interact with the orphan’s estate?

They are occupied with these [things], yet they have neglected ‘aqeedah, since they have no focus on it, and since the common people do not ask about it. Thus, it dried up, and they lost focus on it. People then began to fall into obvious acts of associating partners with Allah, worshipping graves and righteous people. Due to this neglect, you find al-Badawee and others, So-and-So and So-and-So, in Egypt, the Levant, Iraq, and every place, are worshipped along with Allah, while the scholars are dressed in turbans, calling to that, doing that along with the common people.

They’ve caused confusion about this matter, and neglected it, as they did not give it any attention, so much so that the common people have fallen into shirk because of them. They now remain at gravesites in dedication, calling upon them along with Allah, seeking relief from them, asking them to fulfill their needs, heal them, and grant them victory over their enemies. These kinds of things are happening among the people. Anyone who would deny this who travels to other lands, go by the grave of al-Badawee, al-Husayn, So-and-So, and So-and-So. You find the people remaining there in devotion. One says: “O my master, Fulaan, Help! Heal my sick [family]! Give me victory over my enemy! Do this or that for me!” So much so, they have even gone so far as to ask them for children, for their wives to get pregnant, or to give them this or that! We ask Allah for well-being! They have disregarded Allah, so He disregarded them; there is no power nor any ability except by way of Allah.

Major Scholars praise Salafi Publication(spubs) like Allamah Imam Rabi Hadi Al-Madkhali, Allamah Imam Muqbil Hadi Al-Wadee(Shaykh Hasan As-Somali Ustaad) Allamah Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jābirī, Allamah Shaykh Abdullah Al-Bukhari, Shaykh Al-ʿAllāmah Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná(This shaykh Hasan Al-Banna is sunni-salafi scholar and there is another deviant Ikhwani Hasan Al Banna).

Likewise, many well-grounded students of knowledge acknowledge them; Shaykh Salim Bamahriz, Shaykh Dr. Khalid Adh-Dhafiri, Shaykh Hasan As-Somali, Shaykh Abdulilah Lahmami, and many other Salafi networks(Masjid Dar us Sunnah - Dus Dawah, Markaz-Sunnah, GermanTown Masjid, Muwahhideen Publications, MarkazMuaadh ibn Jabal, CCDawah, Pristine Methodology Nigeria.)

The general criticism of our Shaykh Wasiullah Abbas & Shaykh Saalih as Suhaymee doesn’t take precedence over the praise of the Salafi-Publication organization. And their refutation is in general. Also making mistakes doesn't take someone out of the salafiyah creed especially when the person is known since a long time for salafiyah.Refutation(Raddah) has different levels and stages. The worst is when well-known people of knowledge become innovators.

Salafi Publications has a trusted legacy of being a gateway to the scholars. Spubs are very well known for their works defending Sunnah & waging war against Shirk, Kufr & Ahlebidah since mid-1990s. Spubs(Salafi Publications) are also very active in calling non-muslims towards Islam. They also publish beneficial books for Muslims and non-muslims in English Translation, originally taken from the books of Salaf & from major scholar works. 5.Seeking fame, status and position destroy salafi dawah

Al-Allamah Imam Rabi Hadee Al-Madkhali says “ seeking fame, status and position destroy salafi dawah”.

He(Imam Rabi) Said “...For indeed, many among those who desire leadership end up splitting the ranks of the Salafis. So have fear of Alläh, O' Brothers!Become like one body and beware, be beware, and be beware of splitting-up.

For indeed a number of individuals from among those who desire leadership have split

the ranks of the Salafis in different locations— in the Arab lands and other countries due to desiring leadership and complying to what the devil wants.

So fear Alläh!

Humble yourselves and be gentle with your brothers.

When you actualise solidarity, brotherhood and your statement is one, Salafiyyah

becomes dominant and strong.

However, when you are separated and split-up, Salafiyyah becomes weak and dishonoured amongst the people.

So fear Alläh! — May Alläh bless you all.

The elders should have mercy on the youth, and the youth should respect the elders.

Do not hasten to splitting-up. For Full speech see this footnote[5]

Between Us and You are The Books of the Salaf | Shaykh Rabee ibn Hadee Al Madkhali

Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī said:

Hold fast onto the rope of Allāh ﷻ, and [the thing] that will assist you and will be like the sun for you [in shedding light upon this path] is that you return to the understanding of the Pious Predecessors, and [their understanding] is widespread and available for you [in books, tapes and lessons of the scholars] – as I have previously mentioned to you.

And this is a challenge for whoever disputes this, we challenge the people of innovations and desires, [whether they are] people of innovations in beliefs, or people of political innovations, we say, “Between us and you is the Salaf, between us and you are the books [of the Salaf]”.

Imām Aḥmed used to say to the people of innovations, “Between us and you are the funeral prayers” and likewise we say this and we say, “Between us and you are the books [of the Salaf]” they are available [to read and purchase]. Allāh ﷻ said to his Messenger,

۞ قُلْ فَأْتُوا بِالتَّوْرَاةِ فَاتْلُوهَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

‘Say [O Muḥammed], “Bring here the Torah and recite it, if you are truthful.” (Q 3:93)

So they [the Jews] would come with the Torah and it would expose them. As for these [innovators], we will bring the books of the Salaf, the Qur’ān and the Sunnah. We will bring the books of Al-Bukhārī, Muslim, Abū Dāwūd, Al-Tirmidhī, Al-Nisā’ī and what Aḥmad and other than him authored. We will bring these and [find out] who is upon their way and who threw it away and opposed them!

6. Trends of Deviation of Major Shirk | Spreading & Teaching | Online Dawah

Trends of Deviation(Misguidance)

“Our Father Allamah Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan said: “Iman/Aqidah/Tawheed is particularly important as we live in a time in which the trends of deviation have become numerous: trends of heresy, trends of Sufism (mysticism) and monasticism, the trends of grave worshipping and idolatry, and the trends of Bid'ah, which contradict the Prophetic guidance; these are grave and perilous trends.

As long as a Muslim is not equipped with the correct doctrine(belief) based upon the Qur’an and Sunnah and the teachings of the pious predecessors(the early three generations of salaf after Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) passed away), it is very likely that he would be swept away by these deviant trends.

This is what necessitates that full attention be paid to teaching the correct doctrine from its sources to the sons and daughters of Islam.”- [by Allamah Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan from his book Aqidat-ut-Tawhid-The-Creed-of-Monotheism]

Today, with social media and the internet, anyone can use online platforms to spread shirk, kufr, bid‘ah, and other types of misguidance among the Ummah of the last and final prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). That’s why it is our responsibility—at the very least—to share the words of the senior scholars faithfully, without adding our own opinions, especially on the issues like shirk, kufr, bid‘ah, and tawheed, which are part of Fiqh al-Akbar (the greatest understanding of the deen)

And no one can deny that the internet is filled with misguidance. There are countless voices and channels that openly attack the foundations(Usool) of Islam—our Imān (faith), ‘Aqidah (creed), and Tawheed (singling out Allah alone in worship). False ideologies, distorted beliefs, and doubts are being widely spread—often by those who don’t pay attention to the nullifiers of Islam like major shirk, kufr and bidah, which are Fiqh-ul-Akbar. Laymen Muslims assume that preachers (Imams) are knowledgeable or highly learned without knowing whether they truly understand the nullifiers of Islam or without recognising the networks and ideologies they(misguided imams) are connected to.

This makes it even more important for us to respond by amplifying the speech of trustworthy scholars and sticking firmly to the authentic teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah as understood by the Salaf.

We ask Allah for protection from misguidance and to keep us firm upon the truth until we meet Allah. Ameen.c

One of the questioners asked Al-Allamah Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan about using social media & the internet to spread Tawheed.

Questioner:

The questioner says, our esteemed Shaykh, (the use of) the social media and the internet has become widespread. We wish from you an advice for the students of knowledge and callers, regarding the beneficial use of these media in propagating Tawḥeed.

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Fawzān al-Fawzān said:

Na’am(Yes). These media have good and bad, it is upon you to benefit from it’s goodness: and that is to spread within it the call to Allaah and the explanation of Tawḥeed. The correct explanation which the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ came with.

It is upon you to spread these on the social media.

It is an opportunity for you.

Seize it.

And do not leave it for the wicked ones and the callers to misguidance.

Make it inconvenient for them. Because when they see the truth, they will start to broadcast, “inkaffuu” (i.e they tell Ahlus Sunnah to give up their clarifications).

Nay, We fling (send down) the truth (this Qur’an) against the falsehood (disbelief), so it destroys it, and behold, it (falsehood) is vanished. [Quran Surah al-Anbiyyaa:18]

Utilise it.

And they do not spread content of deviant (speakers).

SHAYKH ARAFAT AL-MUHAMMADI said:

And their works in this world are published for reading and listening.

Note: In order to publish scholars works, you must need to understand fatwas and proofs behind it as scholars mention otherwise don’t publish it just for merely publishing it.

Warning ⚠️

Teaching/Spreading/Sharing is the Final Stage

I. Al-Allamah Shaykh Ḥammād ibn Muḥammad al-Anṣārī(b.1344 A.H. - d.1418 A.H) said[6]:

…One should not be hasty in writing books; rather, this path should be approached with caution, humility, and piety…

II. Shaykh Nizār ibn Hāshim(From the closest students of Allamah Shaykh Rabee Hadi Al-Madkhali) said[7]:

Firstly, Students of knowledge must be mindful of themselves and of the status of knowledge and learning.

The origin, as clarified by the Salaf and the people of knowledge, is that the affair of writing, authoring, and publishing are among the final stages, or the later stages, reached by a well-grounded student of knowledge who has been granted success. One should not rush into it.

This is the origin, as Imäm Ibn al-Mubärak (may Alläh have mercy on him) said some speech regarding this matter that the beginning of knowledge is intention and sincerity, and he concluded by stating that its end is through spreading/publishing…

III. Allamah Imam Muhammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-‘Uthaimīn said “

… Whoever puts himself forward before his proper time has exposed himself to humiliation. Same thing Allamah Imam Ibn Rajab mention in ‘Qawayid al-Fiqh’. The person should not be hastens to deliver public lessons while he has not yet matured…. Source: Putting Yourself Forward to Teach without being Qualified | Shaykh Muḥammad b. Ṣāliḥ al-‘Uthaimīn

In today’s time, many of us seek Islamic knowledge not for personal growth or sincerity, but simply to argue, respond to others, or prove a point to achieve a hidden agenda(it could be rage, ego, fame, money, status, chair, money and so on). This attitude goes against the way of the Salaf, who sought Islamic knowledge with humility and sincerity.

I personally fell into this mistake around 2017 CE, when I used my learning to question and debate with Barelvi Imams from the people of bidʿah. At that time, I was very certain that grave worship and seeking help or assistance from those who are no longer alive in this world is major shirk. During those days, I was listening extensively to the misguided Ikhwānī innovator Dr Zakir Naik and was impressed by his knowledge of comparative religion ☯️.

Later on, I realised that I had become fanatical about Dr Zakir Naik, and gradually, I came to see his true colours regarding his understanding of the basics of Islam and how he spreads it.

After reading the narrations of Salaf with regards to seeking knowledge, manners and righteous action(read this book: The Etiquette of Seeking Knowledge by Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd- Salafi Bookstore UK ), I realised that I was in the wrong direction.

The Salaf made it clear that we should not engage with the people of innovation in debates or discussions. Our foundation in learning should be to seek the truth and act upon it, not to argue or confront others. As for anything other than the foundation(origin) about Debating, arguing, discussing or giving Dawah to ahlebidah is not for anyone.

IV. Al-Allamah Imam of Islam, Shaykh ul-Islam bin Baz said[8] concerning “Convey to the people even if it were a single ayah(verse) - Hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari collection“

Questioner: The Prophet's statement: "Convey from me, even if it is a single verse" — is this specific to the student of knowledge?

Response from Imam Bin Baz: No, not only him — even others. Every believer is able to convey, even if it is a single verse. The student of knowledge and every believer.

Questioner: Some people understand the statement "Convey from me, even if it is a single verse" in its apparent meaning, so they go out to villages and countries and invite people, but then they start dealing with major fatäwä which might put them in difficulty?

Response: If he teaches the people the Qur'an — if he goes out to teach the Qur'an — then there is no problem. But he is not permitted to involve himself in matters that do not concern him. He is not permitted to speak about knowledge while he has no insight. But let him teach them the Qur'an. Let him teach them Sürah al-Fätihah, let him teach them al-Mufassal — may Allah reward him with good, he teaches them.

Teaching the Qur'an is facilitated even if he does not possess [advanced] knowledge — he teaches them the Qur'an. The Prophet said: ' 'The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."

We learned from people who knew nothing of knowledge, but we took the Qur'an from them when we were young. In them there was goodness and blessing — may Allah forgive them. They were patient in teaching, and patient in guiding the students, even if they had no knowledge. But they had patience in teaching people the Qur'an,and repeating it to them, and giving them understanding of it until they memorised it.

This is a legislated act.'Uthmän, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated from the Prophet: "The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." "Convey from me, even if it is a single verse."

Questioner: The word "äyah" here — does it mean wisdom, or a verse of the Qur'an?

Response: Verses of the Qur'an.

End of Speech

V.  THE PHASES OF KNOWLEDGE:

Taba‘ at-Tabi‘in Al-Allamah Imam Sufyan ath-Thawri[9] -may Allah have mercy on him- said:

"It used to be said that; "The first phase of knowledge is silence, the second is listening to it and memorising it, the third is acting upon it and the fourth is spreading and teaching it."

Vi. Ustadh Moosa Richardson[10] said:

"Youth need to be quiet for a long time... Be quiet a whole lot, then when you've done that, be quiet some more... Observe what's going on around you for a while before offering your solutions to the world's problems..."

Vii. Allah said that: first, knowledge comes before Action & Speech

Allamah Shaykh Fawzan said[11]:

…..

Then know that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and seek forgiveness for your sin [47:19]

Since He began with knowledge(Know), and His saying, He the Most High:

وَاسْتَغْفِرْ

And seek forgiveness … [47:19]

This is action. So He the Perfect began with knowledge before action, because action, if it is built upon ignorance then it will not benefit the person, so a person should begin with knowledge first and then act upon what he has learnt, this is the foundation……

Viii. Qur'an – Surah Al-Asr (Verse 103:1-3) Allah says:

“By Time. Verily, mankind is in loss, except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and advise each other to truth, and advise each other to patience.”

Implication: Action(righteous deeds) comes before advice (teaching or writing)c.

IX: Speaking and keeping quiet are four types - Shaykh Abdullah Al Bukhari[12]

SHAYKH ABDULLAH AL-BUKHARI said:

Pay attention!

The Prophet said as it has come from the two authentic books (Sahih Al-Bukhäri and Muslim);

"Whoever believes in Alläh and the last day,

then he should speak good word or keep quiet"

Good word, we've mentioned this more than once and also we repeat that; Speaking and keeping quiet is of four types,

(1) a word you will be rewarded for and

(2) a word you will be sinful for and

(3) a silence you will be rewarded for and

(4) a silence you will be sinful for.

As for the word you will be rewarded for is that you speak goodness with knowledge and justice and when you are needed (to speak).

And the silence you will be rewarded for is that you keep quite from evil and harm, that you keep quite from false speeches and tale bearing and gossiping and ruining people's friendship.

And the silence you Will be rewarded for is that you withhold from evil, withhold your tongue from evil and abstain (from evil), then you will be rewarded for that.

And the silence you will be sinful for, if You are needed to clarify the truth and you teep quite from clarifying the truth for the people, then you are sinful, specifically, if the people are In need of you (that you speak) with knowledge and justice.

X: Manners of Sahaba(Companion) - Samurah bin Jundub in Scholars Gathering of Knowledge

O Student, Know Your Place! | Shaykh Umar Bin Muhammed Fallaatah[13]

Shaykh Umar Bin Muhammed Fallaatah said:

Samurah(May Allah have mercy on him) lived until the death of Messenger of Allah. He participated in battles alongside the Prophet(Alayhi As-Salam) & narrated from him.

Samurah bin Jundub said "I heard many narrations from the messanger & nothing prevented me from narrating from him except there were those older than me present".

He said, I carry with me a plethora of narrations, but what has prevented me from mentioning them is manners. There are those who are older than me present & for that I remain silent & don't speak…

Xi: The Companions(Shahaba) of Prophet Muhammad were not in

any need of books of ‘Aqidah to be written in their time>[14]

Question. Why does Shaykh al-Fawzaan hafidhahullaah say that the Companions were not in any need of books of ‘Aqidah to be written in their time?

Answer. This was because the matter of ‘Aqidah(Iman, Tawheed) was taken from the two sources mentioned in  the previous answer. There was no dispute among the Companions in the affair of

‘Aqidah(Iman); it was a decided and settled matter.

c The two sources are: the Glorious Quran & Sunnahc

Question. When the splitting and differing started to occur among the Muslims, what did the scholars of Islaam need to do?

Answer. They needed to clarify the correct ‘Aqidah(Iman) and to write this down in the form of

books.

Question. Shaykh al-Fawzaan hafidhahullaah makes the point that from the protection that

Allaah has given to this religion is…… what?

Answer. That He ordained for this religion trustworthy carriers who would

1) convey the religion just as it came from Allaah and His Messenger

2) repel the false ta’weel (interpretations) and tashbeeh (resemblances)

3) pass on this (correct) ‘Aqidah as inheritance

Xii: Knowledge is merely a means (wasīlah), but action is the essence (aṣl).

If you spread knowledge but do not implement it in your own life, then teaching, spreading, and writing books becomes useless. May Allah protect us.[15]

Therefore, writing Islamic Books, Teaching, & Spreading or Sharing is the Final Stage according to our Salaf & Major Scholars.

…..

Major shirk at the end of time

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said: "The Hour will not be established until tribes from my Ummah attach themselves to the polytheists, and until tribes from my Ummah worship idols."[16]

Allamah Imam Rabi Hadi al-Madkhali said: “All of the Prophets & Messengers began with correction of matters of ‘Aqidah(Belief), and by waging war upon Shirk and its manifestations.”[17]

There is no authentic hadith where the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said that his entire Ummah or my Ummah would never commit major shirk after his death. Innovators like the Sufis and Shias wrongly use hadiths such as Sahih al-Bukhari 1344 to justify grave worship and major shirk, but in that hadith, the Prophet was only addressing his companions—not the whole Ummah or my Ummah.

In-fact the opposite, we find that: our prophet said:"1. A day and a night will not come, except that al-Lāt and al-’Uzzā will be worshipped.”[18],

"2.The Hour will not be established until tribes from my Ummah attach themselves to the polytheists, and until tribes from my Ummah worship idols.",[19] c Here you can see “my Ummah أُمَّتِي” wording is used by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). c

"3. You will surely follow the ways (sunan) of those who came before you, hand span by hand span, arm span by arm span, to the extent that if they were to enter a lizard’s hole, you would enter it with them.”[20],

4. Sahih al-Bukhaari Hadith (7116) and Sahih Muslim Hadith (2906) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The Hour will not begin until the backsides of the women of Daws wobble (as they go) around Dhu’l-Khalasah.”

Dhu’l-Khalasah was a false god of Daws that they used to worship during the Jaahiliyyah,

5. Sahih Muslim Hadith (2907) narrated that ‘Aa’ishah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Night and day will not cease until al-Laat and al-‘Uzza are worshipped.” I said: O Messenger of Allaah, when Allaah revealed the words “He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islamic Monotheism) to make it victorious over all (other) religions even though the Mushrikoon (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) hate (it)” [al-Saff 61:33], I thought that that had been fulfilled and would never be undone. He said: “As much of that as Allaah wills will happen, then Allaah will send a pleasant wind which will cause everyone in whose heart is faith the size of a grain of mustard seed to die, then there will be left those in whom there is no good, and they will revert to the religion of their forefathers.”

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Ibn Sa’d al-Suḥaymī said: “...Indeed what the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) spoke about comes true as we see in this age of ours the deviation of the Muslims groups from their true Religion, and their accompaniment of the people of the graves and tombs, and their clinging to them and sacrificing to them in exclusion to Allāh…”[21]

Thus it becomes clear that some of the Muslims will fall into shirk and apostasy, without that affecting the entire ummah, for it is protected against uniting in misguidance.

Praise be to Allah.

One of the things that are established by the scholars is that shirk will take place in the ummah as is indicated by the sound texts, and reality confirms this.

Many of the Arabs apostatised after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and many of them went back to worshipping idols.

Imam Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad al-Ṣādiq said: “... The apostasy occurred after the death of the Prophet. The Arabs apostated after the death of the Prophet, and so the non-Muslims gathered in Naharwand and said; ‘The man that they used to seek aid from has died’ – meaning the Prophet. ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb had even said: ‘Accept from them the fact that they pray and ignore the issue of them not paying the Zakāt’, to which Abū Bakr replied; ‘By Allāh, if they withhold from me a young goat that they used to give to the Messenger of Allah , I will fight them even if they gathered multiple rocks, bricks, throws, trees, jinns and people; I will fight them alone.’ – And this verse(“O you who believe! Whoever from among you turns back from his religion (Islām), Allah will bring a people whom He will love and they will love Him” [Quran 5:54]) had favoured Abū Bakr…”[22]

The claim by extreme Sufis like barelwi and extreme Shias like Rafidah that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is still physically alive in this world is false and misguided. If the Prophet were truly alive physically in this world, he would have fought the apostates (murtadūn), but it was Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) who led that battle.

The Prophet's grave can be visited in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, next to Al-Masjid an-Nabawi. Unfortunately, these people fail to understand the difference between the Barzakh life in the grave and the physical life of this world. They falsely claim that the Prophet’s soul only departed momentarily and then returned to this worldly life—a fabricated story[23] that contradicts the understanding of Abu Bakr, Umar, Abbas, and other Sahabah (رضي الله عنهم) who confirmed the Prophet's death when the news reached them.c

The mujaddid (renewer of the Faith) Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhaab said: “Chapter: Reports that some of this ummah will worship idols”, then he mentioned some ahaadeeth which indicate that.[24]

Reminder: Fear of Shirk vs Fear of Poverty

The Prophets and righteous people feared shirk (associating partners with Allah) more than any worldly harm—even though they were guided. Today, many of us fear poverty for our children, not shirk. This is a dangerous reversal of priorities.

Yes, Islam is the path of balance. We should seek the provision (rizq) from Allah through our efforts & permissible means, but this world (dunya) should not be our top priority. Everyone lives according to priorities, and the foremost priority for every Muslim should be to worship Allah by performing the five daily prayers without associating partners with Him (shirk), and to implement the five pillars of Islam[25] in their life. Everything else comes after that.

Ibrāhīm (Abraham) 'alayhis-salām made du‘ā to Allah:

And (remember) when Ibrâhîm (Abraham) said: "O my Lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.
 (Surah Ibrahim, 14:35)

This shows how even a Prophet of strong Tawheed feared falling into shirk or his offspring doing so.how can we feel safe from it?

 Luqmān’s Advice to His Son

Allah tells us in the Qur’ān about the wise words of Luqmān to his son:

And (remember) when Luqmân said to his son when he was advising him: "O my son! Join not in worship others with Allâh. Verily joining others in worship with Allâh is a great Zûlm (wrong) indeed. (Surah Luqmān, 31:13)

This was the first and most important advice Luqmān gave—not about food, money, or education—but about Tawheed and the danger of shirk.

What is Zûlm[26](oppression or injustice)? Types of Zûlm with evidence(proofs)?

Ẓulm(oppression) means placing something in a position where it does not belong, or giving something to someone who does not deserve it.

Al-Allamah Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan said: “...injustice is to place something in other than its rightful place…”

Types of Zûlm with evidence(proofs)

1. Ẓulm Against Allah — Shirk (Associating Partners with Him)

This is the greatest form of injustice, where one directs worship, prayers, or any form of devotion to other than Allah.

📖 Evidence from the Qur'an:

"Indeed, shirk is a great injustice (ẓulmun 'azīm)."
 — Surah Luqman (31:13)

🔹 Explanation:
Shirk violates the rights of the Creator, as only Allah is worthy of worship. Committing shirk undermines the foundation of Tawheed (monotheism).

2. Ẓulm Against Oneself — Disobedience and Sin

This refers to a person harming themselves through sins, disobedience, or neglecting religious duties, such as abandoning prayer or committing haram acts.

📖 Evidence from the Qur'an:

"Then they were succeeded by generations who neglected the prayer and followed their desires. So they will meet with evil consequences."
 — Surah Maryam (19:59)

"And whoever does wrong (ẓulm) to himself and then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful."
 — Surah An-Nisa (4:110)

🔹 Explanation:
This type of injustice doesn't involve other people or creation directly, but harms one’s own soul and relationship with Allah.

3. Ẓulm Against Others — Oppression or Harm to Allah’s Creation

This involves harming, oppressing, or transgressing against others—whether physically, financially, verbally, or emotionally.

Allamah Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan Said:”The third type of Dzulm [injustice] is committed when a person oppresses others (or commits injustice against them) by taking their wealth (unlawfully), or backbiting them, or spreading tales about them, or stealing their wealth, or violating their honour through backbiting, tale carrying, slander, or shedding their blood by way of unlawful murder, or beating them, inflicting injuries, degrading them without right etc.”

📖 Evidence from the Qur'an and Hadith:

"And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness."
 — Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:8)

The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Beware of oppression (ẓulm), for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Judgment."
 — Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2578)

🔹 Examples:

  • Cheating in business
  • Backbiting or slandering others
  • Physical abuse
  • Not fulfilling others’ rights

Mujaddid, Faqhi, Muhaddis, Imam Al-Allamah Shaykh  Muhammad Nasiruddin Al-Albani said: “Oppression is of three types[27], the oppression which Allaah will not leave, an oppression that will be forgiven, and an oppression that will not be forgiven.

As for the oppression which will not be forgiven, then Shirk will not be forgiven.[28]

As for the oppression which will be forgiven, then that is the oppression which the slave commits between himself and his Lord.[29]

As for the oppression which will not be left, then it is the oppression of the slaves, then Allaah will take the rights some from others.”[30]

Shirk Destroys All Deeds—Even for a Prophet

Allah warned the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):

"And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), as it was to those (Allâh’s Messengers) before you: "If you join others in worship with Allâh, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers."
 (Surah Az-Zumar, 39:65)

Even the best human being(Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) would lose all his good deeds if he were to commit shirk. This shows its seriousness.

Allah told this to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—to teach us the weight of shirk. No good deed survives if it’s mixed with shirk.

Shirk Is the Greatest of the 7 Major Sins

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

"Avoid the seven destructive sins."
The first one he mentioned was: "Associating others with Allah (shirk)."
 (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

This shows that shirk is the gravest sin in Islam, even worse than murder, fornication, adultery, theft, magic or any other major sins, lesser than major shirk. This confirms shirk is not just a mistake—it is the worst of all sins.

Prophet Muhammad’s Warning about minor shirk(shirk which doesn’t make human beings abide in hell forever)

Minor Shirk: Hidden and Widespread

"The thing I fear most for my Ummah is minor shirk."
(Musnad Ahmad)
When asked what it was, he replied: "Riyā – doing deeds to be seen."

This is common today:

  • Praying to impress.
  • Giving charity for praise.
  • Speaking truth just for followers or likes.

This minor shirk is widespread today, seeking praise for acts of worship rather than doing them purely for Allah. Today, many people pray, give charity, or speak Islamic knowledge only to be seen or praised both offline & online using the internet & social media.

Hadith: The First to Be Thrown into Hellfire

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the first three people to be judged on the Day of Judgement will include:

  • A scholar who sought knowledge to show off,
  • A charitable person who gave only to be praised,
  • A warrior who fought for fame, not Allah.
    (Sahih Muslim)

All were doing good deeds—but for people, not for Allah.

Our Condition Today: Fear of Poverty, Not Shirk

  • We work day and night, fearing poverty for our children, yet we forget to teach them about shirk and Tawheed.
  • We save money but neglect Zakah, a pillar of Islam.
  • We provide worldly success but ignore Islamic upbringing.
  • Our homes are full of gadgets and comforts, yet often empty of Qur’an and Salah.
  • Parents panic over fees and careers, but don’t teach children how to pray.
  • We spend on fashion, phones, and upgrades—but delay paying Zakah.
  • We educate our children about the world but don’t prepare them for the Akhirah.

We are caught in the trap Allah warned about:

"Shaitân (Satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahshâ (evil deeds, illegal sexual intercourse, sins); whereas Allâh promises you Forgiveness from Himself and Bounty, and Allâh is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower."
 (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:268)

This fear of poverty is from Shayṭān. It distracts us from what matters most—Tawheed and obedience to Allah.

Remember, Shaytan is our clear enemy

Major & Minor Shirk Come in Many Forms Today

  • Wearing charms, taweez, or believing in astrology(could be minor or major shirk)
  • Asking for help or assistance from prophets, messengers, or righteous Muslims after their permanent departure from this world—whether from a distance or near their graves—by saying things like, 'O Prophet' or 'O Wali of Allah, help me receive blessings, cure my illness, or grant me righteous children,' constitutes major shirk. This act is known as istighatha (seeking supernatural aid).[26]

  • Requesting prophets or righteous Muslims—whether from near or far, and especially at their graves—by saying things like, 'O Prophet' or 'O Wali of Allah, ask Allah to grant me blessings, children, wealth, and so on,' is considered major shirk. It is also an innovation (bid'ah), as this form of intercession (shafa’ah) falls under the category of major shirk
  • Asking Allah by invoking the rank, status, or honor of the Prophet or the awliya (friends of Allah), such as saying, 'O Allah, accept our du'a because of Your Prophet,' or 'O Allah, grant me wealth, children, health, and blessings by the honor or status of the Prophet,' is not considered major shirk but rather minor shirk. However, it can lead to major shirk and is also regarded as a bid'ah (innovation). This practice falls under tawassul (or wasilah) of the lesser shirk type. On the other hand, if the wording is slightly changed, it becomes permissible—for example, saying, 'O Allah, bless me with abundant wealth and shower me with Your mercy because I love Your Prophet or Your righteous servant (wali).' This form is considered halal and falls under permissible tawassul (halal wasilah)
  • Visiting graves seeking help instead of asking Allah(major shirk)
  • Swearing by other than Allah (e.g., “I swear on my mother’s life”) (could be minor or major shirk)
  • Believing someone knows the unseen (ghayb), which is major shirk
  • Making du‘ā to saints or dead people (major shirk)
  • Trusting money or job more than Allah’s provision(could be minor or major shirk)

All these are types of major shirk and minor shirk

Time to Reflect

  • Are we more worried about our children’s careers or their Imaan?
  • Do we fear not affording school fees but not fear missing Salah or skipping Zakah?
  • Are we raising Muslims, or just successful people by worldly standards?

A Call to Action

Let us return to the mindset of Luqmān and the Prophets:

  • Prioritise Tawheed in our homes.
  • Teach our children to fear shirk, not just failure or poverty.
  • Pay our Zakah regularly.
  • Rely on Allah’s Rizq, not just our income.

Return to Tawheed

  • Teach your children about shirk and its danger before maths and science.
  • Pay your Zakah yearly—it is not optional.
  • Avoid riyā—purify your intentions.
  • Stop fearing poverty—fear losing your connection with Allah.
  • Make du‘ā:

“O Allah, protect me and my family from shirk—what I know of and what I don't know.”

Shirk is the greatest danger. Poverty is a test—but shirk destroys the soul and all good deeds.

Conclusion: Shift Our Fear Back to What Truly Matters

  • Fear shirk, not just job loss.
  • Teach Tawheed, not just maths and science.
  • Pay Zakah, even in tough times.
  • Trust Allah, not just your salary.

Let us return to the mindset of the Prophets—who feared shirk most—and raise families that live and die upon Tawheed.

Let us revive the fear of shirk, live by Tawheed, and teach it in our homes. Only then will we succeed in this life and the next.

7. Beneficial Islamic Knowledge from the Internet

It is not enough just to read or to listen tapes recording, rather these are just for beneficial purposes. As for depending on internet & considering oneself a knowledgeable person(scholar), this is ahuge mistake.[Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan Said]

Knowledge is not to be taken from the internet, cassetes(recording) or from the books rather knowledge is only taken from the scholars. Knowledge is through direct personal learning(Al-talaqqi), one must learn & understand from the scholars. If knowledge could be taken from the books, or whatever else takes their place, the scholars in the past, would not have travelled to scholars to learn from them & take knowledge from them.It is a must to go visit & take knowledge from the scholars even if they teach you from the books. As the muslims in the past travelled from land to land to seek knowldge from various scholars. [Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan said]

Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan on Frauds Knowledge

Shaykh Fowzaan on Frauds Who Pretend to Have Islamic Knowledge

The great scholar, Shaykh Saalih al-Fowzaan (may Allaah preserve him), was asked:
What is “ta’aalum”? And what is your advice to the youth who face trials due to people engaged in ta’aalum?

Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan Replied:
Ta’aalum is to feign knowledge. Feigning knowledge. It is when a person claims knowledge, while he is not knowledgeable in reality. He has not taken any knowledge directly from the scholars. Rather, he merely learned some things from books, solely from reading. He lacks sound fundamentals to build upon; he just reads things in books and proceeds according to his own understanding, likely erring more than being correct. This is a person of ta’aalum. He is a danger to himself (firstly) and to everyone (at large), since he plays games with the religion of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic.

If a man came out and said to the people, “I’m a physician, I’m a doctor, and I treat (the sick),” while he does not have any medical qualifications, no medical qualifications at all, would he be allowed to treat (the sick)? Would he be allowed to perform surgeries, opening patients up and performing heart operations? He would not be allowed to do that, because it would be harmful. So how can a person of ta’aalum be allowed to play with the religion?! Playing with the religion is more serious than meddling with people’s bodies!

So they must fear Allah and not speak about Allah without knowledge, for Allah has made speaking about Him without knowledge worse than shirk (polytheism)!
Say, “My Lord has only forbidden immoralities, what is apparent of them and what is concealed, sin, oppression without right, that you associate partners with Allaah which He has sent down no authority for, and that you say about Allaah what you do not have knowledge of.”
(Al A’raaf 7:33)
End Of Speech - [Reference: Shaykh Fowzaan on Frauds Who Pretend to Have Islamic Knowledge]

Can we learn from the one who learnt from books without taking from the scholars directly?

Noble Shaykh, May Allah grant you success, he ( the questionare) says:

"A man teaches the people Islamic legislation & the Aqeedah (creed) of the salaf (pious predecessors) despite the fact he has not directly taken knowledge from the shaykh & the scholars.
Should knowledge be taken from such an individual?"

Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan replied: As long as he doesn't have a firm grounding attained from the scholars. He is not except a student of pages & books, so knowledge should not be taken from him because he doesn't understand the methodology of the salaf.

And he won't understand except by way of learning with the scholars. ANd by taking directly from the scholars. This knowledge is acquired by taking it directly from the scholars, not from reading alone.

Reading is helpful but it is not to be relied on. A person such as this individual is reffered to as
Mutta'alim (one who acts like he has a knowledge).
So knowledge is not taken from him.
End Of Speech - [ Should knowledge be taken from him? Sheikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan - حفظه الله ]

YouTube: YouTube should not be taken as a source of knowledge. However, if one wishes to benefit from audios (or videos) uploaded to YouTube, take from only known and trusted channels that have tazkiyāt[31] from Salafi scholars and shaikhs. Do not take risks with your religion. Get into the habit now, and prepare yourselves for the upcoming era of misinformation.[Shaykh Abu Khadijah - Spubs founder]

Be Aware!!! of AI (Artificial Intelligence) Software Changes Realities - A New Age Of Fabrication Has Arrived by Shaykh AbuKhadijah

Fabricating hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the āthār (narrations) of the Salaf is not (of course) a new phenomenon, neither is ascribing statements to the scholars that they never uttered. Today, however, the technology allows for more sophisticated methods of lying and deception.

So, I enjoin upon you to verify recordings that come from untrustworthy or unknown social media accounts (even if they claim to be upon Salafiyyah). Speak to the scholars and shaikhs before accepting speech, or forwarding their [supposed] words, and refer to their books and printed fatāwā. Present statements from unknown sources to those who know. Imām al-Awzāʿee (died 157 AH) said:

“We would hear a hadeeth and then present it to our scholars just as one presents a counterfeit coin (dirham) to a teller—so what they accepted, we accepted and what they rejected, we rejected.” (See al-Jarh wat-Taʿdeel, 2/21)

Take your knowledge from authentic verifiable sites. For example Shaikh Ibn Bāz’s, Shaikh Ibn ʿUthaymeen’s, Shaikh Al-Fawzān’s, Shaikh Rabee’s, Shaikh ʿAbdul-Muhsin’s (etc.) official websites and social media accounts, those run by known Salafi shaikhs and students. Let’s bring to an end the era of random surfing and sharing affairs related to our Deen.

By taking this approach, we are actually going back to the original methodology of verification through chains of transmission as close as possible to the source.

Know that liars and imposters appeared early on in the Ummah. Abu Hātim ibn Hibbān, the great scholar of hadeeth (d. 354 AH) said in his Kitāb Al-Majrooheen minal-Muhadditheen (The Book of the Abandoned Ones from the Narrators of Hadeeth): “I heard Abdullāh ibn ʿAli Al-Jabuli say: I heard Abdullah ibn Yazeed Al-Muqree say: ‘
A man from Ahlul-Bidʿah who recanted from his innovation said: ‘Investigate from whom you take the hadeeth, for indeed if we took an opinion, we would invent a hadeeth to support it .’”

Muhammad Ibn Seereen (d. 110 AH) mentioned the importance of sourcing the narrations. He said: “
…but when the conflict and discord occurred, they (Ahlus-Sunnah) would ask: ‘Name to us your men’. So Ahl us-Sunnah would be considered and their narrations accepted—and Ahlul-Biʿdah would be considered and their narrations not accepted.” (Saheeh Muslim, Al-Muqaddimah: 27)

Furthermore, ʿAbdullāh Ibn Mubārak (d. 181 AH) said:
“The isnād (chain of narration) is from the Religion—were it not for the isnād, anyone could say whatever he wanted to say.” (Saheeh Muslim, Al-Muqaddimah: 32)

This shows that the narrations of people would not be accepted except after knowing them, and knowing their isnād (chain of narration)—so, let us return back to the methodology of the Salaf. Today’s equivalent in the world of social media and the internet would be to follow and take from known scholars, shaikhs, students of knowledge and duʿāt whose integrity, trustworthiness, truthfulness, adherence to the Sunnah and the Manhaj of the Salaf is established through recommendations.

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Al-Luḥaydān said:

Shaykh Rabee’ bin Hādī al-Madkhalī is from the people of knowledge... Correct! Blessed is the man—yes (naʿam). And he is one who adheres to the correct Salafi creed.

Shaykh Al-Albānī said:

I say that the flag bearer of the science of Criticism and Praise (Jarḥ wa-Taʿdīl) in this current time—rightfully so—is our brother Dr. Rabee’ al-Madkhalī. And those who attempt to disprove him, never do they disprove him with knowledge—ever.

Imām Ibn Bāz said:

Shaykh Rabee’ is among the best of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah.

Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhalī said:

The books of Shaykh Rabee’ are books of the Sunnah. They are books that correct creedal beliefs.

Shaykh Aḥmad al-Najmī said:

Yes! Knowledge is taken from Shaykh Rabee’.

Imām Muqbil bin Hādī al-Wādiʿī said:

Shaykh Rabee’, may Allāh preserve him—I came to know him in the city of the Prophet (Madinah). He is a scholar from the greatest of scholars.

Imām Rabee’ bin Hādī al-Madkhalī said himself:

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, companions, and whoever follows his guidance.

As for what follows: I advise myself and my Salafi brothers in every place—rather, all Muslims—with the fear of Allah and mindfulness of Him in private and in public.

I advise myself and them to give great importance to knowledge, because people in our time are in dire need of the presence of scholars.

And the presence of scholars cannot arise until groups of students of knowledge emerge—preparing themselves with proper preparation so they can rise to the level of scholarship and lead the Ummah with the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ, upon the path of the righteous predecessors (al-Salaf al-Ṣāliḥeen), in that which is pleasing to Allah.

2. Allamah Imam Saifullah Mubarakpoori or Mubarakfuri says regarding Allamah Shaykh Rabi Hadee Al Madkhali that:

…I found him the possessor of abundant knowledge, great virtue, a possessor of sound understanding and an upright character, upon the way of the Salaf As-Sālih (may Allah be pleased with them) in belief and action, following the Book \[of Allah\] and the Sunnah, aiding them and defending them―harsh upon the people of innovation and desires, refuting the blind followers with whom the greater part of their efforts in the recital of Hadeeth is only to seek Hadeeth which agree with the Madhab of their Imām―so may Allah bless him in his knowledge, and bless the Muslims by Allah giving him a long life.” (Slightly edited from the original translation by Abul-Hasan Mālik Al-Akhdar, may Allah preserve him)

I came to Know his [of Shaykh Rabee] and Precision in Knowledge' - al-Mubarakfuree by Shaykh ʿAbdullah al-Bukhārī

Shaykh ʿAbdullah al-Bukhārī said:

As for Shaykh Ṣayf ur-Raḥmān al-Mubārakfūrī, I also studied with him. I read to him the 6 books \[of ḥadīth\], and we would go through portions of them and we went through Jāmi’ al-Tirmidhī plentifully, and some books of naḥw and ṣarf which were popular in India. Likewise some books of ʿAqīdah and other than that. I stayed with him for approximately two years, and the Shaykh would be silent mostly, he loved the Sunnah and an aider of it.

I remember when I asked him about our Shaykh, Shaykh Rabī’ – because Shaykh (Rabī’) remained there in India for a number years in Varanasi , approximately 7 years, and during that time I believe he authored the book, his Master’s dissertation ‘Between the Two Imāms; Muslim and al-Dāraquṭnī’. And the first edition of the book – which is the one I have – was published there in Varanasi at Salafi Publication in Varanasi, India.

He said: ‘Shaykh Rabī’ delegated me to supervise the edition because he left it [in India] and returned [to KSA - kingdom of Saudi Arabia], ‘So I supervised the publishing of the dissertation there’  He – and I always remember this, said, ‘I never imagined until now, that I would supervise a dissertation being published, that the Shaykh delved and penetrated the science of ‘ilal (defects) to this extent, until I actually supervised this dissertation and I came to know his mastery and precision in knowledge’. [3] Shamsuddin Abu Aisha Bensafi(known as Shamshi - Teacher at Masjid Darrusunnah) said in one of his Duroos(lessons) that:

These days, it's easy to learn & access the basics of Islam—like the Five Pillars of Islam, the six pillars of Iman, and what Ihsaan means — but sadly, a lot of Jahal(ignorance) is there. He(Shamshi) also said ‘You believe in six pillars of Iman, but how do you believe in? Is it according to the understanding of Sufiyaah, Khawarij, Shia, Ashariyah, Maturudiyah or according to Salaf as-Saliheen…” [ source: Explaining The Fundamentals of Faith. [4] Ibn Taymiyyah states that matters of the branches of religion (i.e., fiqh) are flexible and easy — a Muslim may follow a qualified scholar (from a madhhab) unless he becomes certain the scholar's view is mistaken.

However, when it comes to matters of foundational beliefs (uṣūl), he observed that people of innovation—such as the philosophers, Bāṭinīs, heretics, Sufis promoting waḥdat al-wujūd (unity of existence), atheists, Qadariyyah, Jahmiyyah, and others—have deeply deviated and caused serious harm.

Their goal, he says, often involves undermining the true Shariah of Muhammad ﷺ and casting doubts on the core beliefs of Islam. Ibn Taymiyyah noticed that those who turned away from the Qur'an and Sunnah and followed these groups often ended up in heresy or confusion in their faith.

Therefore, he concluded it is obligatory for those who are able to refute these falsehoods and clarify the truth to expose their misguidance and protect the religion. Source: Summarized speech from his book called "Patience and Gratitude” | Translated by Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq

Below is a word to word speech of Shaykh ul-Islam ibn Taymiyaah:

Al-Ḥāfiz al-Bazzār (d. 749H), a student of Ibn Taymiyyah, stated, shedding light on the reason why so much enmity was shown to him:

He wrote a great deal in the foundations [of the religion], let alone in other sciences, so I asked him for the reason behind that and I requested him to author a text in jurisprudence in which should compile together his preferred views and stronger opinions so that it could be relied upon in giving fatwa, so he said to me with what

means: 'The affair of the branches (of the religion) is an easy one, when a Muslim follows one of the blind- following scholars (of one of the madhhabs), it is permissible for him to act upon his saying so long as he has not become certain of the error of his saying.

But as for the foundations, then I have seen the people of innovation, misguidance and desires such as the Mutafalsifah', the Baṭiniyyah, the Heretics, those speaking with the unity of existence (waḥdat al-wujud), the Materialist Atheists, the Qadariyyah, the Nusayriyyah, the Jahmiyyah, the Hulūliyyah, the Mu'aṭṭilah, the Mujassimah, the Mushabbihah, the Rawandiyyah, the Kullābiyyah, and the Salimiyyah and other than them from the people of innovation.

They deeply engrossed themselves in the innovations, with [their] misguidance reaching critical levels. It became clear to me that many of them intended to invalidate the sanctified Muhammadan Shariah which is superior and lofty over every other din and that all of them as as whole threw the people into doubt about the foundations of their din.

For this reason, rarely did I hear or see one who turned away from the Book or the Sunnah and departed towards their sayings except that he became a heretic or he became uncertain in his religion and belief. So when I saw the affair was like this, it became clear to me that it is obligatory upon everyone who is able to repel their doubts and their falsehood and to cut off their proofs and misguidances, that he should expend his efforts to expose their evils and their counterfeit evidences, in order to defend the upright religion and the authentic, lofty Sunnah'."

[5] Shaykh Rabiʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī said: I advise everyone, once again, to have fear of Allāh. I advise them with supportive brotherhood and solidarity such that they become like one body, and are distant from the causes of splitting-up.

For indeed, many among those who desire leadership end up splitting the ranks of the Salafis.

Be like one body and beware of splitting-up, for indeed splitting is evil. "Verily, those who split-up in their religion and break up into sects, you are not associated with them in the slightest." [Al-Anʿām: 159] By Allāh, the one who splits the ranks of Salafis — they are just like those who split-up in their religion and break up into sects — you are not associated with them in the slightest. Allāh and His Messenger are free from them.

So have fear of Allāh, O' Brothers! Become like one body and beware, be beware, and be beware of splitting-up. For indeed a number of individuals from among those who desire leadership have split the ranks of the Salafis in different locations — in the Arab lands and other countries — due to desiring leadership and complying to what the devil wants.

So fear Allāh! Humble yourselves and be gentle with your brothers. "And lower your wing to the believers." [Al-Ḥijr: 88] And speak a statement of truth — may Allāh bless you. "Invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and good preaching, and debate with them in a manner that is better." [An-Naḥl: 125]

When you actualise solidarity, brotherhood and your statement is one, Salafiyyah becomes dominant and strong. However, when you are separated and split-up, Salafiyyah becomes weak and dishonoured amongst the people.

So fear Allāh! — May Allāh bless you all. The elders should have mercy on the youth, and the youth should respect the elders. Do not hasten to splitting-up. "Do not argue with one another lest you lose courage and your strength departs from you." [Al-Anfāl: 46] These verses are sufficient in that regard! He who truthfully looks into the Qurʾān, by Allāh, these verses will suffice him as a deterrent from splitting. May Allāh grant everyone with the success to perform what Allāh loves and is pleased with, and may Allāh mention our Messenger Muḥammad with salutations of praise.  Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2ZGmSA1I-o

Wise Statements from Allamah Shaykh Hammad al-Ansari Concerning Seeking Knowledge:

…On Patience, Caution, and the Role of Young Students

17. “Only those with insightful knowledge and understanding should enter the field of daʿwah.”

18. “Patience and deliberation increase a student of knowledge’s intellect. A young student who is immature in both age and understanding will harm the ummah if he involves himself in matters he does not understand or that do not concern him.”

19. “One should not rush into writing books. Instead, we should proceed with caution and piety.”

20. “No one should engage in writing books prematurely. Instead, we should follow the example of the pious predecessors (al-Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ). They would write but refrain from publishing their work until they matured and became worthy of doing so. The pious predecessors would say: ‘Whoever authors a book exposes himself to criticism,’ and, ‘Whoever authors a book places his intellect on display for people to judge.’ Some of them would write and then erase what they wrote. Imām al-Shāfiʿī once said: ‘I wish I had not written ‘al-Risālah’.’ Reflect on this—by Allāh, al-Shāfiʿī was fully qualified to write and author works, yet he displayed such caution. Al-Ḥāfidh al-Khaṭīb al-Baghdādī addressed this subject comprehensively in his book ‘al-Jāmi’, and he excelled in doing so.”...

Advice for Those Who Are Hasty and Rush into Writing | Shaykh Nizār ibn Hāshim

Firstly, Students of knowledge must be mindful of themselves and of the status of knowledge and learning.

The origin, as clarified by the Salaf and the people of knowledge, is that the affair of writing, authoring, and publishing are among the final stages, or the later stages, reached by a well-grounded student of knowledge who has been granted success. One should not rush into it.

This is the origin, as Imām Ibn al-Mubārak (may Allāh have mercy on him) said some speech regarding this matter that the beginning of knowledge is intention and sincerity, and he concluded by stating that its end is through spreading/publishing. It has been known through observation and examination that hastiness in the affair of writing and hastiness in authoring before proper foundational grounding and deep, thorough study—unless Allāh the Exalted grants protection—leads to problems.

These problems are of various types: Firstly: Problems that affect the student of knowledge himself, such as falling into self-amazement, seeking fame, and striving for it.

This is among the greatest corruptions affecting students and their pursuit (of knowledge), and it severely corrupts the student. For if the intention is tainted by this flaw, it corrupts the heart of the student of knowledge and corrupts his path. Thus, the student becomes one who seeks fame and to be seen. As some of the people of knowledge said: The love of fame breaks backs.

The second problem is that this hastiness in authoring and writing leads the beginner or student to neglect the pursuit of foundational knowledge, as he becomes preoccupied with publishing, writing, and authoring instead of (seeking) knowledge and being grounded in it. This is among the pitfalls of the path of seeking knowledge, and it plunges the student into ruin—we seek refuge in Allāh.

Thirdly: Among these problems likewise is that those who rush into writing are afflicted by certain ailments, such as feigning of knowledge and putting oneself forward. Likewise, he becomes afflicted with not easily returning to the truth when falling into mistakes.

Why? Because returning to the truth is granted to those who are firmly grounded, those in whose hearts the Salafi ʿAqīdah has been deeply rooted.

Thus, it becomes easy for him to return to the truth and retract from his mistakes that he fell into.

This is generally the case for those who hasten into writing—that their mistakes increase, and their oversights in this great matter increase, making it difficult for them to retract. Why? Because he has fallen into the aforementioned problems—such as the love of fame—and thus may feel too proud to return to the truth, fearing—in his estimation—that it might diminish his status and the rank he seeks to attain among the people. This is from the greatest problems.

Fourthly: Hastiness in writing and authorship leads to numerous errors, grave ones, and the presentation of corrupt theories.

This is because the student—this author—has not deeply grounded himself in foundational knowledge, and thus he is afflicted with such ailments. He may even become arrogant toward those who advise him and those who point out his mistakes. This is among the greatest problems faced by this category of students of knowledge.

Therefore, we must return to the ways of our scholars and predecessors. They did not rush into this matter, nor did they hasten into authoring and writing. Rather, they delved deeply into seeking knowledge and being grounded in it.

Yes, sometimes some beginner students may possess strong academic potential, so the Shaykh trains them and nurtures them if he finds in them alertness, sharpness, and talent.

He develops this talent within reasonable limits, without giving them free rein, lest they fall into corruptions and problems that hinder them from seeking knowledge and becoming grounded in it and lead them into the diseases of putting themselves forward and feigning knowledge.

The presence of trials and the emergence of the heads of the people of desires and innovation in the Muslim world today—if the senior scholars and their senior students respond, this is sufficient—in shā’ Allāh—in clarifying the truth and refuting falsehood, so that this reason does not become a justification for us to abandon the Salafi methodology in becoming grounded in knowledge and acquiring knowledge for students of knowledge and the Muslim youth.

Everything has its measure, and everything has its limits. If a student of knowledge is permitted by his Shaykh, I do not believe this permission indicates that he has reached the highest levels of knowledge and acquiring knowledge. Rather, it is sometimes a means that he trains you on this. Thus, one must be mindful and aware regarding such matters.

It has been established through observation and examination that the one who has been granted success to be upon the Salafi methodology and the methodology of the scholars of Salafiyyah—as they outlined and established from the earliest times—such as the statement of Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allāh be pleased with him) regarding the statement of the Most-High:

“Be you Rabbāniyūn (learned men of religion who practise what they know and also preach others), because you are teaching the Book, and you are studying it.” (Āl ʿImrān: 79) He (may Allāh have mercy on him and be pleased with him) said: “The Rabbāniyyūn among the people—or among the scholars—are those who nurture young students of knowledge with basic knowledge before advanced knowledge.”

So whoever seeks to acquire all knowledge at once will lose all of it at once. Thus, one must be aware and mindful to such matters; otherwise, problems will arise among students—and reality is the greatest witness.

The new Haddādiyyah(Ahlebidah newly invented groups who make takfeer on major scholars or declare major scholars to be innovator, on Imams likes Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Ibn Hajar, Imam Nawai. Allamah Imam Rabi Hadi Al-Madkhali first refuted this Hadadiyah group) movement, as well as its older counterpart, are among the worst manifestations of feigning knowledge within their ranks. Everyone began writing, everyone began authoring, and everyone began giving their opinions—so they ended up in the ruin they ended up in.
We have all seen what occurred among the Muṣāfiqah within the circle of the new Haddādiyyah—feigning knowledge, putting oneself forward, ignorance, and grave errors—under the supervision of the leader of the Muṣāfiqah, who did not fear Allāh the Almighty regarding these youth whom he misled.

They began recklessly engaging in writing and authoring, producing absurdities and oddities, while he knew and watched—aware that they were ignorant. In fact, he used to criticize some of them, but when they conformed to his ignorance and desires, he elevated their status and amplified their voices—without piety or caution toward the Muslim youth and this trust.

Thus, we must be alert, and we must fear Allāh regarding ourselves, the students of knowledge, and the beginners.

Sometimes, as mentioned, a Shaykh may permit some beginner students to train them in the methods of knowledge and authorship. This does not mean they have reached the highest levels of knowledge in the affair of knowledge and acquiring it. Rather, it is for the purpose of training, gradual development, and strengthening them in such methods. One must be aware and alert to this matter.

May Allāh grant everyone success in what He loves and is pleased with. It may also be added that there are certain cases where a mentor or Shaykh may direct his students to write or respond to a specific issue.

These are assessed on a case-by-case basis, no doubt. If we were to spread the statements of the senior scholars and their senior students on such matters, it would contain much good. They have fulfilled their duty—may Allāh reward them for their efforts in these trials. This is better and more blessed.

Beginners and young students of knowledge should spread the works of the senior scholars and benefit from what the major scholars and their firmly grounded students have written. They should benefit from this and they should spread this. This is better, more blessed—in shā’ Allāh—and safer for everyone. And Allāh is the one who grants success.

How excellent it would be if you—in Algeria or elsewhere—were to refer back to our senior scholars, so that the matter may become clearer and they may clarify it for you.

Let this speech be spread so that all may benefit, lest the cycle turns against us and we fall into what others fell into by opposing the Salafi methodology due to hastiness and putting oneself forward. We ask Allāh for safety, well-being, and success in what He loves and is pleased with.

Abu Sa'id Samurah bin Jundub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was a boy during the lifetime of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and used to commit to my memory what he said, but I do not narrate what I preserved because there were among us people who were older than me. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Riyad as-Salihin 358

Full Speech by Shaykh Umar Bin Muhammed Fallaatah:

Shaykh 'Umar bln Muhammad Fallätah said: This is a beneficial narration. Samurah lived until the death of the Messenger of Allah. He participated in battles alongside the Prophet and narrated from him.

Samurah bin Jundub said "I heard many narrations from the Messenger of Alläh and nothing prevented me from narrating from him except that there were those older than me present."

I acquired narrations from the Prophet! Do not think that I was preoccupied with anything other than the companionship of the Prophet and acquiring from him.

I carry with me a plethora of narrations, but what has prevented me from mentioning them is manners.

Manners!

There are those who are older than me present, and for that I remain silent and do not speak.

Look at the manners of the Prophet's companions.

As for us today - I am not equal to some of the scholars, I am not even a seed in comparison to them, or an indent on a date seed, or even its thread, and I am not considered to be anything!

However, when we are in a gathering and someone asks a question, the first that volunteers to speak is this honourable one.

"I am a student, I am in university, I am pursuing a master's degree, I hold a PhD, I am this, I am that."

Whilst the one I am issuing rulings and speaking instead of, I do not equate to an onion alongside him!

Due to us not learning manners.

By Alläh, Who there is none worthy of worship but He, we have met virtuous, righteous scholars, and the first thing they taught the student was manners.

Also, he himself learns manners and reads books of manners.

I do not mean by 'Ädab, the Ädab of poetry and prose.

No! I intend the manners of knowledge and teaching.

They direct us to books associated with the manners of a student with his teacher, his father, his parents, the community, the jurist, the questioner, and the laymen.

Upon you is to learn these issues before studying knowledge.

Read the book "Teaching The Learner The Path of Acquiring Knowledge."

One must learn the path of acquiring knowledge so that he knows how to act.

That a scholar from the scholars of this religion speaks, an elder with great accomplishments,

then after that I, whilst being an unknown son of an unknown, say "this speech that so-and-so has said is incorrect". "This is incorrect, but rather such-and-such is."

Or that I dare speak against Imam Mälik, Imam ash-Shäfi'i, Imam Abi Hanifah or Imam Ahmed

and I say "The speech said by Imäln so-and-so is false, incorrect, not to be acted on" or other than that, then this is not from the mannerisms of the student of knowledge.

and I say "The speech said by Imäm so-and-so is false, incorrect, not to be acted on" or other than that, then this is not from the mannerisms of the student of knowledge.

Upon the student of knowledge is to acquire good manners, and that he interacts with the scholars and elders with courteousness.

Listen to what Samurah bin Jundub said.

He said "nothing prevented me from narrating except that there were those older than me present."

Present were those who are older than me, those who are more knowledgeable than me, and for that I stay silent without speaking.

Knowledge is just a means(wasilah) to carry the action. The Objective is that we act upon it.

Al-Allamah Shaykh Fawzan said: “We learn it, recite it & ponder over it. All this is a means to act upon it. Because you will not act upon the Quran in a correct manner except by way of this. You act upon the Quran. It’s not sufficient that you simply memorize it. Or that you simply understand the tafsir. It is a must that you act upon it. And make your action sincerely for Allah. This is sincere advice from the book of Allah i.e. Glorious Quran”.

Sufyan Ath-Thawri said:

action. So, do not abandon seeking knowledge for action,

[Hilyah Al-Awliya' (7/12) | Trans. By Abū 'Affan 'AbdulQādir]

Allamah Imam Muhammad Ibn Salih Al Uthaymin said:

Imaam ‘Alee radi Allaahu ‘anhu that he said: Knowledge calls out for action, so either it is responded to or else it departs…

So what is it that departs? Knowledge, and this is something clear – because if you act upon (your) knowledge, you will remember it each time you act.

Allamah Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan said”"Knowledge is not knowing much information, reading a great deal or possessing many books. Rather, knowledge is with understanding, following and acting (upon that which one has learnt), even if the person’s knowledge is little…." Knowledge Without Righteous Action is useless

Allamah Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan Said: “That from the first of those for whom the Fire will be made to blaze on the Day of Resurrection will be a scholar who does not act upon his knowledge”.

A similar hadeeth is reported by At-Tirmidhee, and it is part of a long hadeeth, and it contains the wording, “Those three people will be the first of the creation for whom Allaah will make the Fire blaze on the Day of Resurrection”, from a hadeeth of Aboo Hurayrah radiyallaahu ‘anhu.

[However the wording of the hadeeth mentions three men, who will be the first for whom the Fire will blaze – “So the first of these men will be a person who gathered the Qur’aan…”. Al-Albaanee declares this hadeeth saheeh]

Prophet Said: “Whoever does an action which our affair is not in accordance with, then it will be rejected”.

[Reported by al-Bukhaaree in disconnected form as hadeeth 7350, and reported by Muslim as hadeeth 1718/18 from a hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah radiyallaahu ‘anhaa. And also reported by al-Bukhaaree in connected form as hadeeth 2697 and Muslim as hadeeth 1718/17 from ‘Aa’ishah radiyallaahu ‘anhaa, that she said, Allaah’s Messenger sallallaahu ’alaihi wasallam said, “Whoever introduces into this affair of ours that which is not from it will have it rejected”.]

Knowledge is one of the delights and pleasures of the world. So when it is acted upon, it becomes for the Hereafter.

Allamah Imam Muhammad ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen said: “Knowledge is a weapon  either it's against you or in favour of you. If you act upon knowledge, will benefit you here & in the hereafter similarly, if you don't act upon it, it will be against you in this world & in the hereafter. Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said: “ The Quran is a proof for you or against you .” source: Knowledge is a weapon by Muhammad Ibn Salih AL-Uthaymin

Knowledge is a Weapon! || Shaykh Muhammad b. Salih al Uthaymeen

The proof is that knowledge comes before speech and action. It's saying of Allah:

Then know that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and seek forgiveness for your sin and for the believers. [Quran 47:19]

Here Allah began with knowledge(Know)”, before speech and action.

The Beginner Student of Knowledge is Like a Child | Shaykh Saleh al-Fawzan حفظه الله

Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan said:

Whoever wants to take all the knowledge at once, he will miss out on all the knowledge.

He will not attain anything.

However, whoever takes it gradually...similarly like a road.

The road is traversed in stages, gradually until the destination is reached.

Likewise, seeking knowledge is in stages until you reach the objective you desire.

Everything has a path and methodology. If you neglect it, you'll not attain what you intended from it.

On the contrary(he would say) " "Be you Rabbâniyyûn (learned men of religion who practise what they know and also preach others), because you are teaching the Book, and you are studying it."" - [Quran Surah Al-Imran Verse 79]

So a beginner student of knowledge, young in age comes & one teaches him al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, al-Tirmidhi or al-Mughni in Fiqh. This one is not a Rabbani. He is not a Rabbani. This is not the path for cultivation & teaching. It's not like this.

Take them gradually. Like a child

In the beginning, the child is only nourished with milk. He is not able to digest food. Then he is gradually given food. Then he is weaned from milk & gradually given food.

Likewise is the case for the beginning student of knowledge. He is like a child.Don't overload him whereby you give him a lot of food while he's a child just being weaned.Give him gradually, a spoonful or two spoonful.Likewise is the case with knowledge, give him little by little.Give him a little bit of grammar.Give him a little bit of Fiqh.Give him a little bit of Aqidah & the knowledge of Tawheed.Give him little by little for every science until he progresses.Until his information develops gradually".  I advise and encourage all of you seek knowledge and strive to study.

A Muslim's foundation lies in being either a learner, a teacher, or a student of knowledge

Studying occurs at various levels,

and if you are not entirely free to dedicate yourself to seeking knowledge, do not abandon studying altogether.

Strive to acquire however much knowledge you can. This is my advice to you.

He found that it was built around three trees, so he cut them down and destroyed the building. So he went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and informed him, but he said: “Return, for you have done nothing.” So he returned and found the keepers of the idol fleeing, saying: “O ’Uzzaa!” So Khālid came and found a woman with disheveled hair, throwing dust upon her head. al-Ḥasan said: Allah knew that a group of people would apostatize after the death of their Prophet, so He mentioned that he will send people that love Allah and He loves them. Some people differed as to who these people are; ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, al-Ḥasan and Qatādah all said that they are Abū Bakr and his companions who fought those apostates who refused to pay the zakāt which was right after the Prophet ﷺ had died.

A group of the general folk from the Arabs apostated except a group of people from Madinah, Makkah and Bahrain from the clan of ʿAbd al-Qays who refused to pay the zakāt. Abū Bakr decided to fight them, however the thought of this did not sit well with the Companions; ʿUmar said, “How can you fight a people when the Prophet has said: ‘I have been ordered to kill the people until they testify that there is no god except Allah, and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, if they do that, their lives and property will be sacred to us except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning will be with Allah’?”

To which Abū Bakr replied, “I will certainly fight anyone who makes a distinction between [the obligation] of the prayer and zakāt, for zakāt is the due right to be paid upon wealth. By Allah, if they were to refuse to pay a she-goat which they paid to the Messenger of Allah [in zakāt], I will fight them for refusing to pay it.” [end Tafsīr al-Baghawī]

[23] Founder of Dawate-Islami, Madani Channel Pakistan: Barelvi Iliyash Qadri mention in his book “Wonders of Ali” on pdf page 56 that:

The Prophets taste death just for a moment, but then immediately they are bestowed with life as before death in the world. The life of Prophets  (in the grave) is spiritual, physical and worldly. They (in their graves) are as alive as they were in the world.

(Fatāwā Razawiyyaĥ, vol. 29, pp. 545)

Response: We believe that prophets are alive in this world, but to say: they died for a moment & then were immediately bestowed with life as before death in the world.

When the death news prophet Muhammad reach to the Umar, he reacted same thing like how Iliyash mentioned, Umar thought prophet went to Allah and he will come back just like Musa went for 4o days but AbuBakr corrected him and sahabhas agreed that prophet Muhammad has died.

‘Umar’s Attitude

‘Umar, who was so stunned that he almost lost consciousness and stood before people addressing them: “Some of the hypocrites claim that the Messenger of Allâh sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam died. The Messenger of Allâh did not die, but went to his Lord in the same way as Moses bin ‘Imran did. He stayed away for forty nights, but finally came back though they said he had been dead. By Allah, the Messenger of Allâh will come back and he will cut of the hands and legs of those who claim his death.” [Ibn Hisham, 2/655]

Abû Bakr’s Attitude

Abû Bakr left his house at As-Sunh and came forth to the Mosque on a mare-back. At the Mosque, he dismounted and entered. He talked to nobody but went on till he entered ‘Aishah’s abode, and went directly to where the Messenger of Allâh sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was. The Prophet was covered with a Yemeni mantle. He uncovered his face and tended down, kissed him and cried. Then he said: “I sacrifice my father and mother for your sake. Allah, verily, will not cause you to die twice. You have just experienced the death that Allâh had ordained.”

Then he went out and found ‘Umar talking to people. He said: “‘Umar, be seated.” ‘Umar refused to do so. People parted ‘Umar and came towards Abû Bakr, who started a speech saying:

“And now, he who worships Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, Muhammad is dead now. But he who worships Allah, He is Ever Living and He never dies. Allâh says: ‘Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allâh, and Allâh will give reward to those who are grateful.’ ” [3:144]

Ibn ‘Abbas said: “By Allâh it sounded as if people had never heard such a Qur’aanic verse till Abû Bakr recited it as a reminder. So people started reciting it till there was no man who did not recite it.”

Ibn Al-Musaiyab said that ‘Umar had said: “By Allâh as soon as I heard Abû Bakr say it, I fell down to the ground. I felt as if my legs had been unable to carry me so I collapsed when I heard him say it. Only then did I realize that Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam had really died.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî, 2/640,641]

This was also reported by Al-Barqānee in his Saheeh with the addition: “Indeed I fear for my Ummah the imāms of misguidance – and when the sword is drawn between them, it will not be withdrawn until the Day of Resurrection. The Hour will not be established until a part of my Ummah attach themselves to the polytheists and until factions from my Ummah worship idols. In my Ummah there will appear thirty liars, each of them claiming to be a prophet. However I am the last of the Prophets, there is no prophet after me. And there shall not cease to remain a group from my Ummah upon the Truth, aided and victorious. They are not harmed by those who betray them – and they will remain as such until there comes the command of Allah, the Blessed and Most High.” [Abu Dawood (4252), declared saheeh by Al-Albānee; see Al-Mishkāt (5406).]

Allah Shaykh Ahmad bin Yahyā an-Najmee (rahimahullāh) said in his explanation of Kitab-ut-Tawheed by Allamah Shaykh Muhammad Abdul bin Wahab that

Point number 7: The saying of the Prophet (ﷺ): “The Hour will not be established until a part of my Ummah attach themselves to the polytheists…” And how many we see today who attach themselves to idol-worshippers and atheists! Indeed to Allah we belong and to him we shall return.

Point number 8: His saying: “…until factions from my Ummah worship idols.” The worship of “idols” (in the form of shrines and raised graves of the deceased) in the lands of the Muslims is widespread. How many “idols” do we find in the lands of the Muslims? In Egypt there is the shrine of Al-Badawee, of Al-Hasan, Sayyidah Zainab, and others. In Yemen, the shrine of Ibn ‘Ulwān and so on in the various lands. Every country virtually has shrines that are worshipped alongside Allah or instead of Allah except Saudi Arabia, and all praise is due to Allah. These shrines are “idols” in reality because they are worshipped besides Allah, and they are referred to as Tawāgheet (false deities).

[25] Sufficient Amount of Knowledge

The presenter asked Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan: What is the sufficient amount of knowledge that is upon the student of knowledge to learn? And should he continue to seek knowledge, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh replied: "The Muslim must - as an individual obligation - learn what will make his deen(Islam) upright, such as his Creed(Aqidah/Belief), Salah(Prayer), Zakat(Charity), Fasting(Sawm), Hajj(Pilgrimage) & Umrah.
He must learn about the five pillars of Islam.
And whatever is in addition to that is a communal obligation; when a sufficient number of people carry it out, there is no sin on the rest. And when they all leave it, they are all sinful Na'am(yes)".

[26] The Three Types of Dhulm -[Oppression or Injustice] by Allamah Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan

What is Dhulm -injustice or oppression? Dzulm [injustice (or oppression)] is of three types according to the people of knowledge (i.e. the scholars):

Firstly: The greatest of them is shirk and why is shirk referred as Dzulm [injustice]? That is because the basis of injustice is to place something in other than its rightful place. And the meaning of shirk is to direct acts of worship to other than its rightful place and this is the greatest injustice – because when they (i.e. the people of shirk) directed acts of worship to other than its rightful place and to those who are not deserving of it, they equated the created (beings) to the Creator and a weak one (i.e. a created being) to Al-Qawiy [The One Perfect in Strength (i.e. Allaah)], who is not unable to do anything. Therefore, is there any greater injustice after this?

The second type of Dzulm [injustice] is committed when a person oppresses himself by committing sins. A sinner oppresses himself because he exposes himself to punishment, even though it is obligated on his to save himself and place himself in an appropriate situation and that is to obey Allaah etc

The third type of Dzulm [injustice] is committed when a person oppresses others (or commits injustice against them) by taking their wealth (unlawfully), or backbiting them, or spreading tales about them, or stealing their wealth, or violating their honour through backbiting, tale carrying, slander, or shedding their blood by way of unlawful murder, or beating them, inflicting injuries, degrading them without right etc [Paraphrased. [28] Shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the gravest sin in Islam, and if a person dies without repenting from shirk, it will not be forgiven by Allah.

📖 Qur’anic Evidence:

"Verily, Allâh forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills; and whoever sets up partners with Allâh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.
 — Surah An-Nisa (4:48 & 116)

So:

  • If someone commits shirk but sincerely repents before death, Allah can forgive them.
  • If they die without repenting, shirk is not forgiven, and they will be in Hell forever.

And shirk is three types:

🕋 Three Types of Shirk in Islam

1. Major Shirk (الشرك الأكبر)

Definition: Associating others with Allah in His Lordship, Worship, or Names and Attributes. This includes acts like praying to others besides Allah, believing others have divine power, or making vows to saints or graves.

🔸 Examples:

  • Calling upon a prophet or saint for help ("Ya Abdul Qadir, help me")
  • Believing someone can know the unseen
  • Sacrificing animals in the name of anyone other than Allah

📖 Evidence:

"Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating others with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills."
 — Surah An-Nisa (4:16 & 48)

❗ Ruling:

  • If someone dies upon major shirk without repentance, they will never be forgiven and will remain in Hell forever.
  • This is the most dangerous and unforgivable sin if not repented from during life.

2. Minor Shirk (الشرك الأصغر)

Definition: Acts that lead toward major shirk but do not take a person out of Islam. These are often related to showing off (riyaa'), swearing by other than Allah, or making statements that imply dependency on creation.

🔸 Examples:

  • Saying: “If it weren’t for so-and-so, I wouldn’t have succeeded.”
  • Showing off in worship (e.g., praying more beautifully to impress others)
  • Saying “By the Prophet,” instead of “By Allah.”

📖 Hadith:

"The thing I fear most for you is minor shirk: showing off (riyaa’)."
 — Musnad Ahmad, Sahih (Albani)

⚠️ Ruling:

  • Minor shirk does not expel someone from Islam, but it is a major sin and worse than any ordinary sin.
  • If someone dies upon it without repentance, their fate is up to Allah. He may punish them or forgive them.

3. Hidden Shirk (الشرك الخفي)

Definition: This is shirk that is internal and concealed, often involving intentions and the heart. It's closely related to minor shirk but may not be obvious even to the person committing it.

🔸 Examples:

  • Doing good deeds to impress others but outwardly claiming it’s for Allah
  • Depending emotionally or spiritually on creation more than on the Creator
  • Fear or hope in creation as one should have only in Allah

📖 Hadith:

The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Shall I not tell you of what I fear for you more than the Dajjal? It is hidden shirk. A man stands to pray, and he beautifies his prayer because he sees someone watching him."
 — Sahih Ibn Majah

⚠️ Ruling:

  • Considered a type of minor shirk, unless it reaches a level where the person places full dependence or worship in creation, in which case it becomes major shirk.
  • If someone dies upon hidden shirk, the ruling depends on whether it was major or minor:
  • Minor hidden shirk: Allah may forgive or punish.
  • Major hidden shirk: Unforgivable if not repented from.

✅ Summary Table

  • Major Shirk

Associating partners with Allah

Takes one out of Islam

Not forgiven, eternal Hell

  • Minor Shirk

Leads to major shirk, doesn’t expel from Islam

Remains within Islam

Forgivable by Allah’s will

  • Hidden Shirk

Concealed intentions, like riyaa’

Usually minor, can be major

Depends: minor – forgivable, major – not forgiven

ash-Shaikh al-Allaamah Ahmad b. Yahyaa an-Najmee (rahimahullaah) said in his book “Ash-Sharh al-Moojaz al-Mumahhad li Tawheed al-Khaaliq al-Mumajjad alladhi allafahu Shaikhul-Islaam Muhammad” (The Concise, Simple and Straight-forward Explanation of the Tawheed of the Exalted Creator – which was Authored by the Shaikhul-Islaam Muhammad b. Abdul-Wahhaab)This is an explanation of Kitaab at-Tawheed of Shaikhul-Islaam Muhammad b. Abdul-Wahhaab (d. 1206H, rahimahullaah)”  that:

However their is a difference of opinion regarding the one who falls into Minor Shirk (ash-Shirk al-Asghar), such: swearing by other than Allaah, or ar-Riyaa, which is to do an act of worship seeking the praise of the people. Does such a person fall under the intent of this verse: “Indeed, Allah does not forgive that partners are associated with Him in worship”? 1(first opinion). And if one does fall under the intent of this verse, then the ruling upon him is the ruling of a major sin, i.e. that such a person is punished, then removed from the Fire and entered into Paradise. However, Minor Shirk does differ from Major Sin in that it is not forgiven, rather the one who is guilty of it is punished with Hell [and then removed from it]. And this is the view of a group from the Scholars.

Other scholars have said: 2.(second opinion)The ruling on Minor Shirk is exactly the same as the ruling on the Major Sins (i.e. that such a person is under the will of Allaah; He may punish him if He wills, or pardon him if He wills).

Perhaps the hadeeth of Jaabir (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) supports the first opinion, that being that Minor Shirk is not forgiven – and that Allaah will punish the one who is guilty of it, then remove him from the Fire, and enter him into Paradise, due to what is clear in the saying of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam):

“Whoever meets Him whilst committing Shirk with Him, will enter the Hellfire.”

Source: Chapter 3: The Fear of Falling into Shirk (Idolatry, Polytheism and Paganism): Ahmad an-Najmi’s explanation of Kitāb At-Tawheed - Abu Khadeejah أبو خديجة

[29]  "And whoever does wrong (ẓulm) to himself and then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful."
 — Surah An-Nisa (4:110)

[30] The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Beware of oppression (ẓulm), for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Judgment."
 — Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2578)

Absolutely. In Islam, oppression (ẓulm) against Allah’s creation—such as hurting others, violating their rights, or causing harm—is considered a major sin. Unlike some sins that are between a person and Allah (and may be forgiven through sincere repentance), wronging others is not forgiven unless the victim forgives or the oppressor makes amends.

⚖️ Oppression Against Allah’s Creation Is Not Forgiven Without Victim’s Forgiveness

1. Qur'an Evidence

"And do not think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror."
 — Surah Ibrahim (14:42)

"Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed."
 — Surah Al-An'am (6:21)

"And your Lord is not ever unjust to His servants."
 — Surah Fussilat (41:46)

These verses emphasize that injustice is a serious matter, and that Allah will hold oppressors accountable, especially when it concerns the rights of His creation.

2. Hadith Evidence

🔹 1. No Forgiveness Without Victim’s Right Restored

The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honor or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today before there will be no dinar or dirham. If he has good deeds, they will be taken from him in proportion to his injustice. But if he has no good deeds, the sins of the victim will be loaded onto him."
 — Sahih al-Bukhari (Hadith 2449)

🔸 Meaning: On the Day of Judgment, the oppressed will take your good deeds, or their sins will be placed on you. There’s no forgiveness unless the victim forgives or justice is restored.

🔹 2. Oppression Is Darkness on Judgment Day

"Beware of oppression (ẓulm), for oppression will be darkness (layers of darkness) on the Day of Judgment."
 — Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2578)

🔸 Meaning: Injustice will cause the oppressor to be lost in darkness and punished severely on the Day of Judgment.

3. Even Animals Will Be Compensated

The Prophet ﷺ said:
"The rights will be returned to their owners on the Day of Resurrection, even the hornless sheep will get justice from the horned one."
 — Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2582)

🔸 Lesson: If even animals will be given justice, humans who oppress others will not be spared unless the victim forgives or is compensated.
